Shouldn't any chatter about The Desolation of Smaug sneak be in the other thread? :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Celtic should be watching this since Jackson is giving some directing tips. He could learn a few tricks from a master.

:D

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I just realized that this movie has a 65% RT score.

What the hell.

That's why I don't go there anymore. It's really just too stupid. It would actually be alot lower if it weren't for the fact that you can change your vote. Too many were voting it really low long before it was even released. Critics because of the 48 fps thing, and so called fans who didn't like it being in 3 parts.

There's been alot of movies I really liked that were given a rotten on RT. Means nothing.

So true Ween.

I can honestly say there is nothing in this movie that bugs me.

Kind of like sometimes when you go to a figure thread and find out how supposedly there are 246 things wrong with it...according to everyone else. And makes you wonder if you are looking at the same figure, statue, whatever.

I get it's not for everyone but it's like one of my froo froo college professor buddies talking about how bad the avengers is...when he hates superheroes and comics to begin with. /shrug

I watched the movie for the third time this weekend.

This time I watched it with the wife, who really isn't into this kind of stuff. I realized on this viewing that this movie isn't for everyone. It's just too dense for the non-fan.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I guess. The Hobbit is a much easier tale to follow I think for non-fans than The Lord of the Rings.

I'd agree with that if we are talking about The Hobbit as the original story before Tolkien added to it after LOTR.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

The book is still easy to follow. If you never read the appendices you should be ok and even with the appendices material added its still simple IMO. Though to be fair I've read so much material over the years that I can't be in that non-fan mind set.
