Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That was some of the best 10 mins I've had recently. :hi5:

Ok, maybe not literally :panic:, but I LOVED seeing that. :1-1: :yess:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I thought sting was a nickname only... I would have sworn that it had an elven name.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The inscription on the movie blade says (off the top of my head): "Maegnas is my name, I am the spider's bane." Or something like that.

But as far as I know, the name "Maegnas" was PJ invented, and Sting is the only name it is given by Tolkien.

So far away. :(

Teaser by say what...Winter earliest.. Spring more likely?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I would think a theatrical teaser would show up around the holidays, but you never know what might get included with the Extended Edition Blu-Ray release. It may seem early, but it would be a good place to drum up excitement for the Hobbit!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

So MSN has a "Where are they now" for the LOTR cast on their homepage today, and the article has zero in terms of actual inforation and is a stupid slideshow, but the page that has info for Billy Boyd features a picture from Merry from the movies! :thud:

Hobbits get no love...:monkey2

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Oh man, what a great video. It reminds me of the preproduction footage that they had for the Fellowship over a decade ago. It's so hard to believe that it's been that long.

I can't wait to see this.

You do realize that there will be lilly footed elves in this right?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Turns out that wasn't Ian Holm's voice at the end of the PJ's video. But PJ Confirmed today on his facebook page that Ian Holm will be returning:

Peter Jackson said:
One comment that came up from the recent video blog was the Bilbo voice at the end—many of you assumed it was Sir Ian Holm. Whilst Ian will be returning as the older Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, that recording was actually Martin Freeman's voice, taken from a script read through we recorded when the cast first arrived. I have to admit, I wasn't sure who it was when I first heard it, either. Cheers, Peter J

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

As long as Ian Holm is in the films (at some capacity, I know his health is a concern). I will be thrilled.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, its nice they're brining him back. Surprised, a bit folks thought that was him at the end of the video. You could hear just enough difference to pick up that it was Freeman.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Looks like their going to have to cast a new dwarf.

I am sad to report that Rob Kazinsky, who was cast in the role of Fili, is having to leave The Hobbit and return home, for personal reasons. Rob has been terrific to work with and his enthusiasm and infectious sense of humour will be missed by all of us. I should say that Rob’s departure will not affect ongoing filming of The Hobbit, nor will it impact work done to date, as we had yet to film much of Fili’s storyline. At the moment we are shooting scenes featuring Bilbo without the Dwarves, which will give us time to find a new Fili. I’ll keep everyone posted with updates as they come.

Cheers,

Peter J

Of course there's gay elvish stuff in the LOTR films too but I can look past it.

I can tell that this will be a very well done film. Jackson and his team will put as much work and love into it as they did with the LOTR films. I got chills seeing Bag End again. Par that with the "return" of Gandalf, Bilbo, Gollum and the other characters from the previous films as well as new characters like Smaug and the dwarves and it will be full of win.

I'm looking forward to how they approach Smaug too. I'm also curious how they're going to approach Frodo, Legolas, Saruman and the other characters mentioned that weren't in the book. I'm guessing they'll be more prominent in the second Hobbit film to tie everything up with Fellowship.
