Me neither. When you adapt a book for the big screen you have to accept that some characters may be consolidated into one and others may not even exist in the written form, but are needed to flesh out narrative.

Plus the fact that NO elves were named in The Hobbit, other than Elrond. Even Thranduil was referred to as 'The Elven King' and didn't get a name until LOTR. Giving names to people we're supposed to care about makes sense.

i'm sure it would have! I kind already figured it wouldn't happen. I've read the Hobbit a couple times and it's awesome. So if they stick to the source material it should be awesom.

I just realized that this movie is going to bring tears of joy to my eyes.

Freeman looks fantastic as a Hobbit--I always wanted him as Bilbo and it looks like he was the right choice.
