Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

Wow, one of the 10 MINT SIM's in existence.

If you had to box it up and move, how would you handle it Bagle?

I think I like the fact that SS is addressing the problem and hopefully come up with some better packing, in order to allow the thing to be boxed and moved without scratches.

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

Nice to see an undamaged piece out there!

Even with the paint flaws it is an awesome piece...:monkey2

If I had a mint statue and had to repackage it, I would probably buy some microfiber cloth and wrap the statue with it. I have never seen that stuff scratch anything.

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

I would remove the sharp plastic. I am bored so I will post pictures of what i mean. Give me about 8 minutes or so.

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

nice pics!

even if after i open mine up it is good shape i still worry about it getting damaged by it's packaging on the way to it's new owner. i guess if it is in good shape i'll wrap it with some of the wrapping from my SW PF boxes. btw FED Ex treats my packaging like garbage. No problem with beaten up boxes from USPS or UPS but every time i get one from FED EX it is jacked up.

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

Man you did luck out! Congrats Bagels! Glad he arrived safe for you. I am honestly not worried. Sideshow is aware of these and are helping us out!

Thanks man.

I'm really sorry about yours, that's complete crap. Seeing the arm made me want to punch my computer! Friggin' crazy. I definitely think SS will respond quickly, and i'm sure that we will see turn around times faster than we think.

And for the question about if I had to move it, i'd wrap it in a cloth and transport in the styrofoam, sans plastic tray. Or, i'd have my wife hold it while I drive :monkey3

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

Here are my pictures.

The worst spots are the arm, chest and back just like everyone else with issues. There is a little bit of damage to the spine, sides and a foot as well. There is paint residue in the packaging on the plastic inserts where the damage is on the statue. Some of the rubs aren't as bad as some I have seen but it is still unacceptable.

Ok here we go.

Problem #1

Plastic tray looks like a good idea from far away.

Now look closer

See how sharp the edges are?

I don't think this would have been an issue. However the statue is loose enough in the foam tray to move around quite a bit. With sharp plastic like this and movement you are lucky to not have anything happen. I think it would have been better without the thin plastic shards... I mean tray. That being said I still think my arm would have been busted. It was too loose and must have been banged pretty darn hard.

I must admit though. It's damn pretty lit!

Yours actually has pretty clean lines of the black paint in the grooves. Mine seemed a little sloppy, so I don't mind an (unscratched) replacement, I'll gamble.

Good points Badmoon, I didn't think about a loose floating statue inside a plastic Iron Maiden shell would be the culprit.

In SS defense, at least it was the good styrofoam that doesn't disentegrate and flake all over the place.

No they were bad points that wrecked this thing. :rotfl Anyways, yes they did use very good styrofoam. However, that only works if the item is snug and fits like a glove. This thing was allowed to bounce freely. That is no good.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Thought I would post my personal opinions on some of the problems here. I also posted in the Iron Man Pics thread. I am not sure where these belong. I think both.

Ok here we go.

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

So what you're saying is, in addition to removing plastic sharp trays, removing or never applying the lube oil, wrapping him in think foam wrap, it would also be wise to get some additional foam or thin styrofoam to fill in the voids allowing the movement.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Exactly! Unless you think that loosely packaging the figure and countering that with lube so when it moves it will slide freely will help the situation. :monkey3

Well you can add mine to the list, I just got mine in about an hour ago #417 and he scratched to hell. Guess I'll be calling SS in the morning :monkey2
