I'm not disappointed, it's exactly as bad as I had thought.
Sad thing is, doesn't seem to be at least fun bad, it's just sad bad.
This is what we will continue to get if you want to "expand" on the creature itself instead of focusing creativity on the story and the human characters.
But it's not surprise to me, after watching a ton of "the making of" documentaries of Predator this week, one realizes that Shane Black isn't really very smart or charismatic, you hear McTiernan speak in interviews about Predator, and he's well spoken, smart, funny and a quick witted individual, who can condense complex directorial techniques into succinct, digestible bits for the audience he's speaking to in those interviews.
And when the interview moves on to Shane Black, he's just a dude bro.
I mean think about it, even the Predator design came from McTiernan, that movie was a success because of McTiernan alone, he brought everything into that movie, and Predator 2 is not a disaster sequel because it copied McTiernan's core from Predator.
Everybody else, including the large majority of the fanbase, got Predator wrong from that point forward.
