Re: Predator Reboot...

For me, Predators gets better with each viewing.

Predator followed by Terminator 2 on TV tonight.
Even though I, obviously, have both on blu-ray I feel obliged to watch :D

Re: Predator Reboot...

Predators was alright, but it did almost nothing to further the mythology. And Lawrence Fishburne's character was wasted (and stupid). Also Topher Grace was dumb.

P1 and P2 were miles ahead of Predators.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Haven't watched Predators in quite some time. I deliberately avoided it while I was trying to sell my Hot Toys figures from it but now that they're all gone it should be safe.

I agree totally on Fishburne, his entire role was just weird. But I actually thought Topher Grace had an interesting role, a bit more to him than the standard action movie character.

While I enjoyed it, it doesn't compare to P1 or P2.

A very succinct summary of the film that mirrors my own opinion :lol

Re: Predator Reboot...

they just took too much from the first Predator film, so whether homage or straight up laziness, I hated that. I found the humans to be just as bad as the tweens in AVPR as well.

Re: Predator Reboot...

A big problem with Predators is if you don't have the Dark Horse graphic novel the story doesn't have a beginning or an end. You're thrown in not knowing who or why these people are there, you get a little insight as the film progresses but then it finishes with the characters stuck on this planet... great if they were doing back-to-back movies and a sequel was guaranteed but this is Fox and it takes them years to green light even the most brilliant script.

Re: Predator Reboot...

the main problem with predators was the piss poor design of those "alleged" super predaturds. written off as dumb ****s.

Can u tell us more please?

Whats the back story?

Re: Predator Reboot...

I like the "in media res" opening for PREDATORS and it worked for the film. It made you relate a bit with the characters in the fact that everything was a mystery...why were they there, who were they all, who took them? The story and the histories behind the characters unfold amongst the backdrop of being hunted.

At the very least, I like to say PREDATORS put the franchise "back on track" after the AVP debacles (though entertaining popcorn flicks with cool creature designs, they dropped the ball on almost everything else and tarnished both franchises).

The problem of not knowing anything and then starting the movie with people in the air is that they then had to spend too much time with the characters walking around getting to know each other...
Spend almost 35 minutes wandering around the jungle just looking at the trees....

What good did it do to start the movie that Way if they were going to mess up the red of the movie
