Some actors can't be bought. And the MCU went into safe mode a while back. The Favreau era/pre-Disney MCU could have gotten a Joaquin Phoenix or a McConaughey. The new MCU scares away good actors and directors.

They're lucky to have gotten Keaton for Homecoming (after two tries and who knows how much money).

So those are all horrible actors and actresses in Thor 3 and Dr. Strange?

Cate Blanchett, Hopkins, Goldblum, Swinton, Mikkelsen, Cumberbatch, Ejiofor?

Wait, so RDJ is bad at acting?

I take it everyone has read the alternate Dutch ending to Predators:

The scene would have had the human survivors sitting bloody and beaten in the jungle. The silence is interrupted by a vibration that grows until it sounds like a freight train is bearing down on them. Once the dust cloud settles, a Predator is is revealed. The door opens and dozens of Predators file out. The humans are screwed now. There’s nowhere to run and even if there was, they don’t have the energy for any more fighting. The Predators don’t attack but part with two single-file lines on each side of the door. Their leader, with armor covered in “trophies,” exits and walks towards them. He slowly removes his helmet to reveal… DUTCH (Schwarzenegger). “Not bad kid…not bad at all,” he says. SMASH TO BLACK.

If Arnie was available this would have happened. Between Fox and Rodriguez they would have destroyed Dutch's character in about 30 seconds of screentime.

I'd kill the person in front of my seat if that was the actual ending.
Also, Fatburn's character was originally Mike Harrigan.

All good actors, just more open to parts in popcorn movies [that pay well].

RDJ can be good, but in this case its not about ability. Like the rest of the Avengers cast, its all about the massive paychecks. Evans, Ruffalo, Renner...they're not proud of these films. Their enthusiasm for these parts just isn't there and that's understandable. These aren't movies that challenge them as actors. They do them because they just can't turn down the cash.

Not everyone is as serious about the craft of acting as DiCaprio, McConaughey, Phoenix, Daniel Day Lewis and Christian Bale (to name a few) are.

****, Bale turned down an absurd amount of money to come back as Batman. But he didn't believe in doing a follow-up to Nolan's brilliant trilogy. Didn't wanna sell out.

IIRC McConaughey took a really low salary for Dallas Buyers Club, something unheard of like $50K which for him is what other movie deals pay him to pick up the pen. But he got an oscar and globe from that role, so it all evens out.

Right on the money about Evans, Ruffalo and Renner's enthusiasm not there. I do wonder how long it will be before Hiddleston decides to jump the Thor ride. Portman pretty much has already.

Yeah watch any interview by Chris Evans and you'll see how sad and mopey he is about playing Captain America in critically acclaimed and globally beloved films. :cuckoo:

Evans laugh is only the top 3 meme of the year. :lol

Yep. There's just no sweeping generalization you can make that would accurately apply to all actors in any given franchise. I do believe Evans is looking for a jumping off point from the MCU but my understanding is that that applies to all acting roles, not just Cap. Sounds like he'd prefer to spend the latter portion of his career behind the camera. Nothing wrong with that. And I respect the mindset that says "stories are better when there's an end in sight" as opposed to never ending status quo sequels.

Jackman on the other hand clearly wants to play Wolverine to his grave no matter how crappy the movie (X3/Origins) or how ridiculous Singer makes him look (goofy head gear, crazy mental patient run through the snow.) And then you have guys like Keaton walking away from $20 million Batman Forever paydays because he doesn't want to play a lame version of his iconic character. To each his own.

we're talking in the movie, not gushing in interviews pre/post release ad campaigns. I'd be gushing in interviews as well if I was getting that kind of money about a product I was ambivalent on!

Oh I guess I missed those Ferris Bueller outtakes to the audience Evans did telling the audience that he wasn't enjoying himself. :monkey1

On a side note, great username, I always hear Arnold's voice requesting that gun when I see one of your posts. :lol :duff

If Black gets the one-liners right you can forgive almost everything else....they are just as much a part of a Predator film as the dreadlocks on the Pred.

Could WWE superstar The Miz be set for a role??????

He best get a few more MCU paychecks first. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/before_we_go

Evans Cap's story should have ended with Civil War.

No way. Not until he gets the Gruenwald era "The Captain" suit. :nono

In the comics that shield was given to him by T'Challa in order to replace the one he gave back to the government. Seems the MCU is perfectly poised to go that route as well.

Agreed. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many people are determined that Civil War was the story where Cap died and that's one of its most crucial elements. The only reason they added that was because of Brubaker's plans, which from the beginning, were to make Bucky the new Cap. Unless you want to believe that he changed his whole story to compliment CW, which is... yeah... It was all just good coordination, in contrast to what is going on these days in Marvel's editorial. Hell, that story didn't even happen in the main Civil War series, rather in Cap's own title. And honestly, it had very little to do with it. Not to mention the whole "he was sent travelling through time" BS, which got complicated when Thor talked with his, supposed, spirit.
