Yeah that's all dandy and I agree with that last part.

But AVP is ********, it's literal comicbook crap put on screen, unfiltered. Yeah it was a B movie, but the B movie, but a bad B movie.

The first 2 are B movies too and they don't suffer from intentional weaknesses AVP and the rest suffer from. The popular opinion on AVP isn't nearly as bad as it should be, it's actually a pretty popular movie around these parts.

Plus you gave CW like a 7 or something :lol might as well give it the Oscar already.

You really hate comics, don't you? lol

Technically yes, but McTiernan executed the first film so masterfully that he elevated it way beyond 'B' movie status. Kinda like what happened to Spielberg and Lucas with Raiders.

Predator 2 is just disappointing. There was an opportunity to do something really cool there by jumping into the future and bringing the battle to an urban jungle. They just ****ed it up.

I gave it an 8/10 upon my first viewing but that went down after two more viewings to 7.5/10.

The bad ones yeah. I love the good ones.

And there are few to no good AVP comics. Like I said I tried to read the fire and stone ones, and dropped them at issue 1 they were so bad.

The only good ones I remember are the Isolation ones, Batman vs Predator and Tarzan vs Predator, the rest are low end 90's crap.

But B movies are about budget and material limitations to maximize creativity, not about intentionally cutting corners to achieve B movie status. Which is what AVP movies are, intentional crap, that's not something to look up to.

I love Alien Resurrection for instance, but it's on the same boat, but at least that one has style.

Pssh.

It still looks too good after you talk so harshly about it.

That's the score I give it, lately rounding a 7, and I liked it :lol

Requiem is so dark u cant even tell whats going on

Dude, the scene in Requiem where the Predator takes on the Xenomorphs in the sewer using his targeting system...with my surround sound and 4K picture it is ****ing EPIC watching him blast those things to pieces.

That's still an unexpectedly high score for a film you slate quite a lot.

edit - yeah, what Gaspar said.

Disappointing is the one word review I'd give CW. Its not a crap movie either but it represents a crappy approach to making CBMs in that it played it safe from start to finish. A film that as you watch it blatantly screams to you "I COULD HAVE BEEN A 10/10" is a chore to watch upon repeat viewings. That's why it went down for me to 7.5 after a few more rounds.

CW is like McDonald's fries. They look good, they smell good, they taste good after the first few bites - but then its all downhill from there and you regret having gotten drive thru at 3:00 in the morning.

the weirdest thing happened to me with requiem,

I Went to see the movie in theaters with my friend and the movie was not as dark as the home release. I remember being able to see everything neatly and not dark.

I remember details from watching it in the theater. some scenes that were brighter. I remember loving Requiem in theaters. I did not care that it had high school dovey lovey drama.

Then I get the home release and I CANT SEE S--- :lol:lol Scenes that I loved in theaters were so dark now on the tv you cannot make out anything that is going on.
the studio really really ruined that home release. The movie was not as dark and the first trailer proves it, the first trailer was not as dark either. I remember having a great time at the theater with the movie and buying it as soon as it was released.

I wish they released the NON dark version but i think the studio felt ashamed or something. why would they darken the movie so much for the home release?

TDKR is a 10/10.

:lol:lol:lol take THAT Prince!

I know that both pturtle and EVILFACE have made that claim ad nauseum but I wouldn't go so far as to say that makes it "popular opinion."

I think its definitely overrated. Most CBM podcasts (Collider, Screen Junkies, etc) have gone as far as to say its deserving of a Best Picture Nomination which I find absurd.

If any of the MCU movies was going to be considered for anything it'd have to be TWS, and even that film which I thought was fantastic I still wouldn't call Oscar-worthy.

TDK on the other hand should have absolutely been up for Best Pic. At least it forced the AMPAS to increase the number of nominees the year after they snubbed it.

Fury catching Falcon with the helicopter alone disqualifies it from being Oscar worthy :lol

Agreed.

But even cheesy stuff like the Rocky III moment where the camera cuts as Grillo and Mackie's punches are about to connect is damn good in that movie.

Great movie, best from the MCU so far, still not Oscar-worthy.

I think its definitely overrated.

Well if it's overrated it seems to be so in pretty low key fashion. As someone pointed out a while back the CW thread rarely gets bumped while people still have a lot to say in the BvS and SS threads. CW came out, many people seemingly loved it, but I'm not really seeing anyone beating anyone else over the head with repetitive claims of alleged greatness or anything.
