Superman I - IV ;)

BTTF ofcourse.. Goonies... Teen Wolf..lol..

and Adventures in Babysitting :)

Let's not forget Ghostbuster 1 and 2.

I'm afraid Superman I is a 70's movie.

And even though II came out in 1980/81, most of it was filmed at the same time as part I.
I did not count Indiana Jones movies, as they are set in the 30's. And I did not count Robocop, because that was set in the future.

I gotta go with GOONIES

I'll go with Ferris Beuler's Day Off as well.

Say Anything ranks pretty high as well for me, but the music scene is pushing towardsthe grundge style which would come soon.

Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure too.

For me, 80s really represented this carefree attitude before AIDS became a huge panic and obviously before 9/11 worries. But there also has to be a palpable and underlying worry that the planet might be nuked over 932 times.

Thats why I think Ferris Beuler pulls it off the best. That "just go for it" attitude of Ferris...yet maybe he's going for it because you don't know if we'll be around tomorrow.

To me, Breakfast Club hits all the right angles on music, style, etc, but its too angsty to really represent how carefree I felt the 80s. Then again I was 8 in 1985.

I grew up in the 90's buuuuuut I have to say The Goonies. And The Breakfast Club just for 80's sake.

Can't forget this one, i rented this dozens of times when i was younger.

Weird Science mmmmmmmm Kelly LeBrock. Welcome to puberty!

Lost Boys Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim sums up 80's cheese movies for me, and of course the previous mentioned posts. Gremlins anyone.

Gremlins is a good one. Especially with the Christmas setting.

Lost Boys hits a lot of marks too. The California location seems like a critical piece of what the 80's were.

True..lol.. Since I was born in 79, I guess since I watched all of those growing up, they all seemed like 80's movies..

That's kind of changing a lot of the criteria. So by this method Bladerunner, Total Recall, Predator 2, and Escape from NY are out of contention....when I think of 80s, I think of these movies.

To me those movies have not aged. Most of them still stand up by today's standards when it comes to special effects and overall look.
I think that's why people coin the phrase ahead of it's time for movies like Planet of the Apes and 2001.
When I watch Star Wars it does bring me back to my early childhood in the 70's, but for younger people I bet it reminds them of when they first saw it in the 80's or 90's.
Other movies can't escape their era if the chose the music of that time or there is lots of pop culture to view on the screen.
Predator 2 came out in 1990 so that was always out.
