Eddie Guerrero was absolutly amazing towards the end of his career and life. I never thought he'd become such a huge star.
His wrestling was always top notch, and his mike skills/personality became great in WCW. Unfortunately, this wasn't recognized by a large segment of the world until Vince gave him a push (after Eddie did what was necessary for that and jacked himself up with steroids). Too bad that guys need to look like freakin' Goldberg for McMahon to give two ____s about them. Their are a few aberrations (CM Punk comes to mind. . .Edge is close, but he looks much bulkier than he used to--even Jericho looks roided out for a guy his size), but they are the exceptions to the rule.

Also, screw HBK. He's an ass. I don't care if he found Jesus or whatever, that doesn't excuse his behavior detrimental to wrestling in the 90s.

Not a douche.

:exactly:

Shawn wrestled in my home town when I was a kid, not as a member of the Rockers but as a member of the Midnight Rockers with Marty Jannetty back in the AWA days.
Wow. That's some memory. I remember seeing some guy in a mask named "American Dragon" back in Mississippi when I was in college. Little did I know that he would become one of the greatest technical wrestlers I would ever see.

I was going to be a smart ass and reply "Barbarian?" then I decided to reply with Meng, or Haku as he was known in his WWE days... anyway I did a search for "Meng" and found this:

Had to share.

I don't know anything about who talks about whom (and don't really care--except for Iron Sheik. That ____ is hilarious), but I only thought Flair was boring in the ring as a kid. His 60 minute matches with Steamboat were a revelation at the time. His "ring psychology" was second to none. He put on great matches with lame wrestlers week in and week out, making the mediocre seem good. But is he the best ever in the ring? No. Not even in the U.S. But is he the best combination of wrestler and talker? Easily. Others like Macho Man, Michaels, Guerrero, Kurt Angle, and various others lag behind, IMO.

good points dude. very good points. i have to agree that there was always something that drew me to ric flair's matches despite my opinion on his in-ring ability. it might be that combination of things you mentioned. the smack i was referring to was about a whole host of people, not the least of which was mick foley. ok, he may not look the part, but i think foley is seriously talented, takes more risks for fans than anyone i know, and one of the nicest guys in wrestling. why anyone would want to talk crap about him is beyond me.

i did a list of my favourites a while ago. i think shawn michaels and bret hart topped it. controversial to like both, but shawn's past aside, he has to be the greatest performer ever. my other picks were kurt angle, undertaker, chris benoit, chris jericho, eddie guerrero, jeff hardy, the rock, macho man randy savage and ricky steamboat.

wwe is frikking horrible thesedays. it's watered down and over-produced nonsense. the only guys i like to watch are cm punk, randy orton and jericho. i think triple h must be officially retiring soon too.

RVD, from the original ECW days, was my all time favorite... Something about that Bam Bam Bigelow match for the TV Title just blew me away and has always stuck in my memory.

yeah RVD is another absolute great. unique style too. did you ever see that PPV ECW match against Cena in philly? the most HARDCORE anti-cena crowd reaction i've EVER seen. there was something oddly beautiful about it :lol

I really wanted him to get a clean pinfall win over Cena during that match.... Or at least cleaner than it ended.

I loved the old ECW. Many of the guys were short or just short of talent or just druggies but it was DAMN entertaining.

I loved RVD during his ECW days, as well, when he had that bizarre relationship with Sabu. Was that the match where Bigalow fell through the ring you are referencing?

I saw a couple live shows, including an ECW Pay-Per-View in New Orleans. Even had a "Triple Threat" shirt signed by Bigalow, Candido, Douglas, and Francine, but sold it awhile back. Shame how many of these guys have passed on. . .

But my favorite, all-time ECW wrestlers were Guerrero, Benoit, and Malenko, followed up by Mysterio and Psychosis. Those guys were so amazing to see for an American fan when they first started out. I was glad that they eventually got the recognition they deserved (well, maybe not Psychosis :D ). Shame how the story ended for Benoit and Guerrero. The way Mysterio looks, it wouldn't shock me to hear of him having a heart attack one day, as well. Sad.

And yes, "American Dragon" was the codename for "Powers of Pain" :lol

That was V. Taz. When RVD beat BBB for the TV Title he jumped from the top turnbuckle out to the crowd and onto Bam Bam two or three times... It was nuts! No YouTube access here at work or I would find it for ya, Sam.

I probably saw that one, just don't remember it specifically.

I do remember when 2 Cold Scorpio did a crazy flip into the crowd in a match against. . .must have been Sabu.

Danielson ("American Dragon" :D ) used to do that stuff in ROH from time to time, as well. Springboard flip into the front row.

Ok, are we talking performers or wrestling skills? 2 different things. Mitsuharu Misawa was the best wrestler in the world period.
In what sense? He did the "All Japan" style as well as anyone. I'll give him that, but he wasn't the best technical wrestler, or the best at telling a story, or the best at gauging what the audience was looking for, IMO.

Look at most Mexican wrestling (Lucha Libre) matches, those are as common as a bodyslam.
