I probably saw that one, just don't remember it specifically.

I do remember when 2 Cold Scorpio did a crazy flip into the crowd in a match against. . .must have been Sabu.

Danielson ("American Dragon" :D ) used to do that stuff in ROH from time to time, as well. Springboard flip into the front row.

I love that stuff.... I've always been a sucker for the performance aspects. That's why guys like Michaels are so impressive. He could do just about everything.

In what sense? He did the "All Japan" style as well as anyone. I'll give him that, but he wasn't the best technical wrestler, or the best at telling a story, or the best at gauging what the audience was looking for, IMO.

Are you kidding me? Have you seen any of his matches? As far as gauiging what the audience is looking for, its pretty hard in Japan, the audience is pretty tame.

My wife HATES when I stop on Mexican Wrestling.... We don't speak Spanish.... I love the matches though! They're insane! :rock

I love that stuff. I grew up watching both, thanks to my grandfather. He could watch any wrestling and appreciate it. Most, if not all highflyers have Lucha Libre influence including Michaels.

Uh...those are collectables/film related in the relevant section.
We are a Collectors/toy Forum, not a sports channel to post pics of bloodied up wrestlers.
x :peace

That would be different if there weren't wrestling toys. But there are, and posting this thread in any other section but the sandbox would have it moved here, so I really don't see how it's any different than someone posting shots of a bloodied Wolfman from the film, a bloodied Arnold from Predator, a bloodied Frodo from ROTK. Fact is, posting a pic of Flair bloodied up from a great match is no different. Hell, there's even a UFC thread here that has pics posted, from time to time, of bloodied fighters, etc. Should you maybe move the thread to General Collectibles with the other wrestling toy threads? Or is this just potentially your personal bias toward the subject matter? :huh

RVD, from the original ECW days, was my all time favorite... Something about that Bam Bam Bigelow match for the TV Title just blew me away and has always stuck in my memory.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl there's totally a dude at my gym that could pass for that man. :rotfl

I was having the same coversation with onethousandmasks in the Cobra Commander throne thread... which is why there's now this Ric Flair thread. :lol

I thought Barry made a great Horsemen....

And to me Dusty v. the Horsemen was always superior to Sting v. Horsemen.

Agreed. I remember like Dusty, Nikita Koloff and Magnum T.A. all feuding with the Original 4 Horseman. Great times. Jesus Wrestling sucks now. :(

Here is my friend Chris with Flair.

I've seen plenty of his matches, as Tiger Mask and as himself. He was a great wrestler, but not the best in any particular area IMO, excepting in his ability to wrestle the All-Japan style of match. Have you seen Bob Backlund, Lou Thesz, Dory Funk, Antonio Inoki, even guys like Benoit, Regal, and Angle wrestle?

In terms of telling a story, the All Japan style the he helped to invent was pretty formulaic, ultimately turning into guys beating the ____ out of each other with crazy moves until one couldn't kick out anymore. Personally, I don't think that can match up with a great Malenko/Guerrero or Chono/Keiji Mutoh match in terms of telling a story. But like I said, that's my opinion. Some may like the Mexican lucha libre style matches more, and that is fine, but they aren't telling a story in the way that a great Steamboat/Flair match does, IMO (even though those were pretty similar to each other).

my friend went over from the UK to wrestlemania 25 and saw flair in a mall in houston in the morning of the show. when he approached him for an autograph, flair told him to "f off". when he told me, i said i would have done the same :lol he probably wanted to crush his little limey head for disturbing his styling and profiling WOOO!

he also met kid rock's drummer while having a smoke outside the hotel. he didn't know who he was at the time. they got to talking and he asked my friend if he wanted a limo ride to the show. my friend declined still not knowing who he was, thinking he was some perv. he said he was absolutely gutted when he saw him on stage later that night :lol

I have alway thought of the "story telling" formulaic in itself. Maybe I'm used to the Lucha Libre style more were there is not storytelling. And I have seen all the guys you mentioned, but I guess we see things different, and that is ok. I personally would put any Misawa/Kobashi match with any of the natches you mentioned, though I will give you the Chono/Mutoh are some of my favorites.
Btw, my all time favorite wrestler has always been Mil Mascaras (as my username translates to). Imo, He is one of the few wrestlers that had could wrestle pretty much any style. Too bad he is cosidered a big a**hole by most wrestling fans (and many wrestlers).
