That's kind of an ambiguous riddle, dontcha think? I mean, almost any farm animal stinks when it's alive, but smells great when it's dead (and cooked ).

True, though pig seems the obvious choice being a "filthy animal" and the fact that bacon is perhaps one of the most delicious smells there is.
