I forgot to thank everybody for the good workout suggestions a few pages back, especially Buffy. :duff

Im actually 4 weeks without cigarettes after smoking for ten years. And Im starting to go trail riding by my house a bit. Getting healthier one step at a time. :)

Pause squats are crazy. I do them with 3 to 5 second pauses in the hole. My partner has to count it out as 1-one thousand, 2-one thousand. Etc...

Hamstrings be singing when you are doing these *** to grass.

Ski

Ski is that a good ex. of what you eat? Is this a cut or maintenance. I'm cutting at 1950 avg. and losing 1lb/wk.

It's not a bad example, the cals are for cutting. I tend to throw more veggies in whenever I'm working from home.

That was yesterday's, today I had a meal of protein pancakes that consists of 10 egg whites, 1 cup of oats and a half a cup of blueberries.

I'll also eat rotisserie chicken and take the skin off and that's about 8-9 oz.

I am happy that I have been to the gym on average about 5 days a week or 3 days at the gym and 2 days martial arts (includes workout).

I am going to acquire a trainer for a few weeks to get me trimmed up nicely and help with recovering from my knee surgery. Just happy to be pushing 450 on average on the leg press.

I have so many questions regarding fitness and what not.
But i will only ask a few for now.

Basically i'm badly unfit , unhealthy , lazy and feel fatigued all the time.
So i have decided to act and do something about this.
I weight 19 stone about 265lb and want to get down to about 16 stone.
I have started a diet and starting the gym.

Would i be better going to the gym and just do cardio for now until i loos the weight and then concentrate on building up muscle or mixing it up a bit?
For instance 30 mins on cycling machine and then 30mins on weights.
I'm not too fussed on being mr universe for now just loosing my stomach and generally feeling healthy and fit instead of tired all the time.

Thanks for the help.

Don't forget about diet. It's just as important. I would think you want to burn the fat before you start lifting heavy and such, how long you spend doing cardio and weights is really up to you. I think it's harder for people to lose weight if they try and stick to one thing with cardio unless the cardio is working everything.

I'm curious how you guys feel about fast vs slow reps. I'm not a gym noob by any means, but lately I've noticed if I drop the weight a little bit from what I was doing before, and do slow negatives (4-5 sec) and explosive positives with some pausing on the last set, it makes me super sore in comparison to just doing fast positives and negatives with heavier weight. I don't do this all the time, but like today, when I was finished doing back and chest, I felt super sore by the time I left and i only did 4 chest exercises and 3 back.

I have read people going back and forth what is better. Obviously lifting heavier weights gets you stronger, but I'm more sore if I slightly drop the amount of weight and do slower negatives. So I don't know, thoughts?
