Congrats Captain! Does this mean the quest for Anakin is at an end, or will you be looking to get the regular version as well?

Since getting Obi Wan today I decided to finally crack-open my Vaderkin. I have to say its a pretty cool figure. I still prefer the regular version, but the Sith eyes do look really good in person and the Droid Base is very nice.

I was debating whether or not to keep it, but being the first in the Sith line and technically the first Vader makes him a keeper :lol

Does anyone have their Sith Ani and reg Anakin together where they can compare the robes/cloaks?

I'm curious if the Sith robe is the same material as the reg Anakin robe?

I think so, a lot of these robes are the same brownish color...

Can any of the re paint artists out there give a brief description of the tools you use. What kind of paints do you use? Do you sand off the original Sideshow paint before you start? I would like to try this but dont know where to start. Please help.

I've finally bought him, I think hes a perfect figure, except for the eyebrows.

I just received my sith Anakin the other day (the wait list works!), and for the most part, it's an excellent figure. I still think one of Sideshow's biggest problems is tailoring--Anakin's belt is too damn high! Time for some scissor action...

In the meantime, here's two photos I took:

Will try to do some photoshop work later...

mista_carrot, lowering the belt makes a huge difference, it's (one of the things) what I did to mine, and of course the front tabbards too.

Just unsnip the stitching between the tabbards and the belt at the back, then you can pull both the belt and the two leather tabbards down together at the front. makes it look much more proportioned (and not as if he has the belt under his armpits) lol

BM..... I will do my best to help you out....

Ok, I use brushes of all types, but you need a big flat... several sizes of round tips and at least 3 different very small tips for eyes and such. The rounds are good for drybrushing and the flat is good for washes. But lately I used a smaller round for washes as I try to keep it all in one area...

As for paint, your options are limitless... It just needs to be thinner and acrylic based. I use Model Masters paints as well as the cheap-o Apple Barrell paint from Wal-Mart. It's all good stuff, so it comes down to finding which ones give you the shades you like and going with it.

I don't take off the SSC paint apps because it's too hazardous and tricky to do without ruining the sculpt. I know Mikey Primes the sculpt first before painting, but I don't. I just wash the head, clean with alcohol and start painting.

That should give you a good starting point. We also have a thread in the custom gallery with how tos and tips on random stuff.... If you need any help that is not listed there... ask me and I will do whatever I can to help.

Ok, my Sith Anakin was bothering me so much with his shoddy paintjob (mine) that I had to do something about it. Now that I don't suck as hard as I used to.... I knew I could do better....

And man was I right... He's 10X better IMO... But, I could only get one decent shot...with a flash. But I promise you guys once I have some sunlight tomorrow morning, you can expect much better pics.... :D
