So, I was just notified by Josh (jlcmsu) via PM that I shouldn't bother replying to any of his posts on the boards anymore as he has me on "Ignore".

After a brief moment of thinking how odd and unexpected that was (not to mention weird that he would send a PM to let me know) because we've never truly gotten personal or into a flame war with each other it got me thinking...

Is it really so bad to be critical of Sideshow on here sometimes? And if some of us are critical does that really mean that we're not as "loyal" or as big a fan as someone who never has a gripe or negative thing to say??

Genuinely curious. As I am hardly always negative. We do have those people on here and everyone knows who they are. We also have those who will never say a negative thing about anything Sideshow does ever. We all know who they are, too. But isn't the purpose of these boards to DISCUSS, vent, emote and share our own OPINIONS on this hobby we all enjoy and have in common?

While I understand Josh is a unique case in that he apparently doesn't handle ANY criticism of SSC very well, I'm truly curious as to how many others like him are out there. If my thoughts on the PF Fett, et all were that troublesome to people then maybe I don't need to spend time here anymore. I'm an honest person. I share my feelings completely unfiltered and unbiased. And I do so because I CARE. I also like to think I know what I'm talking about and have something to add to these discussions and debates.

I like and collect Sideshow as much as anyone. But if I have a gripe, I'll share it... because I care. I want and expect the best from them. But if these forums are not tolerant of views that are even the slightest bit contrarian to rose-colored cheerleading then I might unfortunately have to start spending my free posting time elsewhere.

As a fan of Star Wars, I can get on my high horse and get sensitive sometimes.

Opinions are fine - good and bad (as long as they are well thought out)

I pretty much agree with you. I will say that as of late you have seemed a lot more negative at times. However, Josh does seem to take it personally when anyone says a single negative word about SS ( You say you don't Josh, but you act like you do ).

There are some people who do nothing but complain about everything.

There are some people who would stand up and cheer if SS announced 1/6 scale Jabba poop with real smell and would HAVE to have the exclusive edition with peanuts in it.

Reality is in the middle as always.

He said you were on ignore in some thread somewhere yesterday... I thought he was just kidding. :(

I for one, like the critism on Sideshow Both positive and negative...it helps you making your own point of view.Personnaly,I like to know about anyones opinion...But I would never put someone on ignore even if I hated him...I just love conflict too much. But hey..thats just me...

Me and Josh have had our spats and I honestly take his unrelenting love for SS with a grain of salt. He could never be criticle of his 'precious'. If SS had an issue like the GG Obi statue, he'd still die defending them. I'm honestly surprised I haven't been on his ignore list before.

We have to realize that this is the SIDESHOW forum. I'm hear becuase SS is the best collectible company around. They aren't perfect, but no one comes close to SS in many ways, from product, to customer support. They seem to care about their customers but let's make no mistake, they are a business first and foremost.

While I love SS and all the wonderful goodies they've brought me, I'm still very honest about something I don't like. But I still love Dusty :monkey3

Absolutely not. I think as collectors and loyalists to a company its in their best interest when we tell them what we are not happy with and what improvement we feel need to be made. Not to mention its a message board where differing opinions lead to more enriched conversations.

While not a strong presence on this board, over on RS I am especially with Master Replicas. Its that loud opinion (and the fact that I live close to the corporate offices) that got me invited there in the first place for focus groups and while I love that company I do not fear pulling punches at what I don't. They actually thanked everyone there for being so honest. SSC looks at what we say and takes it to heart, not everything obviously but a lot and I doubt they'd want that to change.

While its tough to hear that your product isn't loved especially because so much time and effort goes into it, it helps gauge what could be made better and helps look towards the future, not to mention that one is hit "out of the park" its really genuine and not just more background cheerleadering.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion both Pro and Con and while its also everyone's right to ignore others it'd be a pretty boring message board if everyone had to adhere to posting restrictions. Just my two cents.

I really feel that people that see life through rose colored glasses are people that cannot accept the cruel facts of life. Diversity and difference of opinion is a definite part of life. I have already been put on Josh's ignore list and to tell you the truth, I haven't lost one second of sleep over it. He's happy in his world so let him be.

I fully admit to that. The way Sideshow handled the whole PF Fett thing particularly torqued my jaw. I can't help it, it just does. And I also still despise the Endor Rebel Troopers and how the prices of the 12" figures have increased so drastically in less than a year. And don't even get me started on the Art S. Bucks...

But those are finite issues I have with SSC. I still love those guys (why else would I be here?) and I am also one of the first to give them credit when they are brilliant (ex: Jabba).

Indeed it is. Call me Mr. Moderate. I am even that way politically. :lol

While I agree conflict and differing opinions are fantastic, there is such a thing as being OVERLY critical and harping. I have seen alot of this of late and that has really turned me off to posting all that much. You don't like it, you say your piece and move on. I really dont see the reason to harp on the same things over and over... like the ERTs. You don't like them, you say your piece but don't harp on the same things over and over. And also the shots at the younger crowd don't help much either. I have to say I have been more then a little offended by the attacks on Jedi from the older crowd as that's that film that got me hooked. Sorry I wasnt born in '77 but my love for "the film with the furry teddy bears and hide and seek in the forest" makes me no less a fan.

Personally, I think your opinion is more valuable if you say what you truly feel and not just a generic "wow, super fabulous awesome work SS"
As long as your criticism is constructive then it ain't bad

Is it any wonder that (and no offence meant by it) no one asks (someone who has that belief) opinion, as 9.9/10 times is gonna be unrelenting ass kissing :D

Whilst endearing to SS, it can be bland & stale to others

Oh, they're out there too believe it or not.
I the GG cheerleaders are alot more annoying than Sideshow cheerleader sometimes.

I read on a board somewhere where they didnt think the Sideshow PF of Obi looked like Obi. Those are some tinted windows they are looking through.

Having an opinion is fine and makes this board what it is, but people are tired about all the *****ing and moaning about EVERY single piece that Sideshow announces. People complain about stuff not being made, then they complain when it is..... wanting stuff to be PERFECT out of a company thats trying their best to bring us what we love is a little extreme. some things cant be done without compromising the work, because its in such small scale. I for one love sideshow and all that they do, not all pieces have to looked at with exact precision. try looking at the piece at a distance and seeing it as what it stands for and what it means to you, and stop worrying about how Boba Fetts head is gonna fit inside of his helmet or what material hes made out of.

Polystone is NOT a derivative of gold. it doesn't matter matter what stuff is made out of for it to be worth something.

There needs to be more discussion on this board. Not complaining

They're a bunch of movies. Relax--- if someone has an opinion let them express it. If you disagree then engage in discussion/debate of a mature level--- if you don't think you want to debate then simply ignore someone's opinion and agree to disagree. I find JEDI the weaker of the OT. I don't like teddy bears when it should have been wookies. I was alive in '77 and I had the joy of seeing that destroyer fly over my head in a real honest t gosh theatre--- maybe that's what causes me to feel a certain way... your feelings were set up by JEDI and that movie holds a place in your heart. It doesn't make you any less of a fan or me any greater---guess what, we're different... and that's OK.
