It's not esoteric. It's just emotions, and emotions are just an automatic reaction to stimuli based on a person's sub-conscious value-judgments.

Automatic?
Are you proposing that man, Arnold in particular, can't master his emotions? Arnolds value's seem faulty then, following your reasoning.
How can I make such a judgmental opinion?
The consequences seem to bare that out.

but are you saying that the only good reason to not have sex with the maid is because what other people might think?

When some of those people are your children and wife then yes.
It says to "supposedly" his most loved and cherished people in his life that his word, fidelity, love and commitment are conditional and take a backseat to his personal wants and "needs".
Thats quite a message to his children who I'm sure are still forming there own set of values that will come into play later on in there own marriages.

People aren't automatically bound to their emotions. What I'm saying is that their emotions are automatic estimates of facts, based on their values. They are still free to act upon them or not.

The man's values are at fault, in which case, to follow that which his self esteems as good is a bad course of action. All I'm saying is that being self-centered is not bad for good people, i.e., people with values that aren't self-destructive. If he values his wife and children, he would not selfishly act to do them harm.

Hey, hey, get a load of this guy. He's just so cool.

I'm surprised people haven't discussed the jail time Arnold could possibly face for this. Think about how much trouble he could get in if it's discovered that he used state funding during his term to support this woman and child. I'm sure investigations are underway and we'll see even more about this scandal.

As someone has stated in this thread, I'm not interested in how celebrities live their lives but I do think that it was pretty despicable that this happened while he was married, while his wife was pregnant. Think about how close those conceptions were and the fact that Maria was pregnant during the same time this maid was. Yeah, that's pretty messed up.

It's only natural to criticize Schwarzenegger. While I don't condone what he did, I suppose he could have done something more despicable, i.e. get rid of the child.

As far as the scandal goes, it doesn't really offend me. I'm not about to trash my Terminator collectibles. However it has proved what I have always thought, no family is perfect. We all have our dysfunctions and old skeletons in our closets that come back to haunt us. We've all been associated with it at some point in our own lives.

Blow is out your ass, troll. Or your mouth. Which ever is closer.

Which one do you post with?

Touchy, touchy. One comment about your "hey I was drinking when I posted this" post and I'm deemed a troll?

What's blowing out my ass? I post with my hands!

Derrrrrr,

If you have an actual argument that can refute anything I've posted in the last few hours, knock yourself out. If not, then I guess we're gonna have to regard all of your future posts as subordinate to my buzzed wisdom.

We? We're all on our own bro.

Anyway nah, it's cool.

In fact, I have a proposition that involves a certain piece of gristly meat. We're going to need all the alcoholic rage posts you possess tonight my boy!

GET TO IT.

It isn't money that makes people feel more entitled, it's POWER. Money and power are often related, but are not the same thing. Tiger woods is rich, but he also feels powerful. THAT makes him feel like it is ok for him to have whatever he feels like. There are some rich people who don't feel powerful, and thus don't feel this entitlement. However, there are plenty of poor people who feel powerful, who feel LOTS of entitlement. There are lots of financially poor guys having just as much if not more sex than rich guys. Money can make some people FEEL powerful, and therefore entitled, but it isn't the money that makes people feel entitled, it's the power. A lot of poor athletes feel entitled because they feel powerful. A lot of poor musicians feel entitled because they feel powerful. A lot of really good looking guys feel entitled because they feel powerful, and they want to express that power. This brings us to politicians. Politicians are people who are obsessed with power, which is why they are so frequently involved in sex scandals. Being a politician doesn't pay that much compared to other jobs that are less stressful. There are very few nice people who are elected officials, because most good people want nothing to do with politics, because there is so much moral compromise involved in it that it is too unsavory.

I agree on the most part. People always say a lot women marry for money, but really it's power. I've said this for ages. That's why some think women like bad boys. They don't have to be rich, just give off the power.

Is the problem being centered upon their self, or is the problem the quality of their self?

The problem is definitely with the quality of oneself, ie one's character, and not being centered upon oneself. It is good to be centered. I think it is correct to be centered on oneself, and if one is concerned with doing what is REALLY beneficial for oneself, it will not harm anyone else.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has so much of his own money, about 50 million, not counting the houses that he owns, that he doesn't need to use state funding to support the child. I think he used his own money for all of his personal needs. Using state money is a non issue here.
