I am not typically a fan of the light-up options at all, even the sabers in the PFs aren't really sold on me.

I like spinners, but usually not if they're a thousand years old and bearded.

Also, if this ends up costing more than $300, the only way I'm preordering it is if SS produces a faux-bronze version. Seriously -- the diorama line hasn't hit a homer yet, and I'm just not ready for that kind of commitment.

I'd probably be playing to a different tune if they weren't so hellbent on making everything a "versus". Conflict is only interesting up to a point when you're dealing with a world as richly visual as the one of the LOTR.

Hasn't hit a homer yet???? Gonna have to disagree with ya there Vlad. The only piece in either the SW or LOTR lines I wouldn't call a homer is the Space Slug and there isn't much wrong with it. The Sandtrooper Dio is very good and makes solid contact at worse. The Anakin vs Obi-Wan is nothing but greatness as is the Aragorn @ Helms Deep. The Frodo/Gollum Dio I would call a home run as well especially considering the size and likeness Trev was able to accomplish.

Of course this is all from my POV but I've seen too many people really like the Dio's in both lines for it to be hard 2 say no homers.

Well, actually only one piece has been labeled a "VS" piece and its from the Star Wars line. The two LOTR ones have not been labeled that. Plus they've said the majority of these dio's would involved conflict in some form. If you're wanting just enviros then sticking to the SSW line might be the best thing. At least for me I like see my favorite characters or moments I enjoyed captured with some action in them.

Kind of funny that you're singing a negative attitude since you've been so excited about the Dio lines. Well, maybe the SW ones I should say. You've been kind of hard on the LOTR ones since they did the Frodo cause it didn't match the book.

All of the LOTR dioramas are vs pieces, even though that's not the title of the piece.

They could have been named:
Frodo vs Gollum
Aragorn vs 3 uruks
Saruman vs Gandalf
Fell beast vs Eagle

And sticking to the SSW environment line would be perfect, if it still existed :monkey2

Yeah, they can all be considered that despite the titles. The point is though they're supposed to include some conflict based on whats been said. I'm sure we'll see some enviroramas like with the SW line but I personally would like to see them continue to stay the course they're on.

Conflict is good! It's what makes the Freaks board interesting and it certainly makes these dio.'s interesting. I for one don't want some Arwen in the arms of Aragorn or Sam in the arms of Frodo type dio. :D

Conflict isn't the only thing that a dio can (or should) depict. Heroism can be just as compelling. You jokingly mention that you don't want a "Sam in the arms of Frodo" dio (why you would imagine such a bizarre dio I'm not sure ;)), but let me assure you I would buy a "Sam carrying Frodo up the slopes of Mt Doom" dio in a heartbeat. There's no direct conflict in that scene, but it is perhaps one of the most iconic character-driven moments in the entire story.

I would get this as well for the reasons you mentioned. A very powerful moment that stays with you long after seeing it for the 1 millionth time.

I must admit that would make for a terrific dio.! The scene that really got to me was the "you bow to no one" scene at Minas Tirith.

For non-conflicting dio's, I'd love to see an Arwen and Aragorn holding hands in front of the waterfall, or Arwen grieving at Aragorn's tomb, the council of Elrond (like that's ever gonna happen lol) and/or Boromir's death scene (although that may be considered as a conflict-dio, I dunno).

A dying Boromir dio with Lurtz is for sure at the top of my list. It is such a great scene in the movie and am sure Sideshow would make it look perfect!
