Maybe I just took it too much for granted that Abraham was just driven to save the world for it's own sake.

So Abe's wife and kids would rather go it alone, in the middle of the zombie apocalypse, than spend one more second with the man who KILLED THEIR RAPISTS? That's messed up.

I agree with that. If I were his kid I would be cheering him on while he bashed their heads in and I would have got a kick or two in myself. :lol

Didn't really understand that either. Why was she so shocked by the violent reaction towards the people that defiled her. Would think he would be her hero after that, unless she somehow blamed him for it happening in the first place.

Did they really imply that in the show? I don't remember thinking that when I watched it. I know that's what happens in the comic. I took it as he just beat the life outta the guy for some other reason and they were just scared by his ability to brutally kill. It looked like it was early in the apocalypse.

Crap, I missed that part. When did they say they were rapists? I saw him smashing a guy's face in and then calling for Ellen, but I might've missed some flashbacks in between. :slap

On TD, they said the group Abraham was with were his neighbors. They weren't rapists. They were probably trying to bully/ his family out of their food/shelter or steal from them.

Oh okay, I thought I had missed something, maybe not? :huh I still haven't watched Talking Dead as I was working on Sunday til 3am. Sadly, they don't have it OnDemand so I have to stream it or somehow find a way to catch it.

Yea, there's nothing in the episode to tell you what Ab thought he was 'protecting' his family from. What you do know is that a) his family was in another room. B) she had her back turned to the situation, covering the children so they couldn't see what was happening even by accident c) she - and them - were terrified of Ab based on what he had done. What that implies to me is that he went over the top with something he felt was necessary, just like he does when he refused to go around a herd of zombies even when it's the logical and sensible thing to do. He's clearly a man that gets ahold of something and doesn't let go, and if he felt he needed more food and water for his family than a group was going to allow, I wouldn't be surprised if he killed them.

So while we have no real way to know exactly what happened, we know it was bad enough that his wife was more terrified of him than of the walkers.

I thought Eugene's explanation was pretty damn good too - he and Ab have been a really good addition to the cast.

to be honest I rather have them keep Eugene and Abraham and kill Beth already

I have a slightly different take on Abraham. My thought is that as things were getting progressively worse, the people in Abraham's group started to act worse and adopt a survival of the fittest mentality. They probably viewed Abraham's wife and kids as weak and tried to take advantage of them (i.e. - by stealing food from them or somthing along those lines). Abraham got wind of it and put a stop to it as we saw. I tend to think it had something to do with food since Abraham used a can of food to beat the guy to near death and then he stepped on his windpipe to finish him off.

I am guessing that Abraham's wife and kids had never seen that side of him before and she reacted by running away to "protect" the kids from Abraham's dark side. As viewers, we know that was a silly course of action to take and it played out just as we predicted.

It seemed to me like finding his family dead was a separate incident from him beating the guy with the can of soup. His family showed fear after that. He woke up from sleeping and they were gone, then he found their dead bodies. Maybe the note they left indicated they were with the neighbors, and while it wasn't shown, their bodies indicated the **** when he found them?

The note said "don't try to find us". They did show us the bodies and they had all been devoured. Not much left to tell anything other than they were eaten.

Why is there such a focus on a **** angle? :lol

Kuddlitz said on Talking Dead that his neighbors had ***** and killed his family. Maybe I heard it wrong?
