Maybe that is the source of the confusion. There was raping in the comics, but I don't think they went that route in the tv show. Abraham's family was just fed to a horde of Walkers instead. :lol

Comic- *****

Show- doesn't get into it

Talking Dead- he says according to the comic his family was ***** by his group so that's how he prepared

Crap, I missed that part. When did they say they were rapists? I saw him smashing a guy's face in and then calling for Ellen, but I might've missed some flashbacks in between. :slap

On TD, they said the group Abraham was with were his neighbors. They weren't rapists. They were probably trying to bully/ his family out of their food/shelter or steal from them.

Oh okay, I thought I had missed something, maybe not? :huh I still haven't watched Talking Dead as I was working on Sunday til 3am. Sadly, they don't have it OnDemand so I have to stream it or somehow find a way to catch it.

It's funny because on the official behind the scenes they say the guys were rapists,
and I doubt they were talking about the comics, he was talking about the episode and he clearly says the guys ***** her:

Yeah it makes more sense now, but not knowing that ahead of time it seemed weird. Still kind of strange that his wife and kids decided he was scarier (in his effort to protect them) than the people that ***** them.

They were traumatized and maybe felt he didn't protect them when they need it.

it seems weird but people in distress are sometimes not thinking straight. She could have been so traumatized by the sexual abuse that Abraham's brutal attack on the guys made her feel she was going to be attacked by him as well?

They were *****, the show pussyfooted around it. Really, Abe beat those dudes to death for any other reason besides ****?

Maybe if they had put a gun to his kids' heads, MAYBE. But he probably would've just dispatched them very quickly, not with two dozen canned food shots to the cranium. That's reserved for something that's arguably far worse than death.

Abraham did good, crazy mom went and got her kids dead. Bad mom. :(

You ain't kidding.

After just seeing the episode I don't think they were alluding to his family being *****. I really can't see the mother running away from her husband because he killed the men that had ***** her and her children.
They had no problems last season showing that that group of men were going to **** Carl before they killed him. I don't see why they wouldn't have made it more clear in this episode if they wanted to tell us that Abraham's family were *****.

I think it was just her witnessing what he was capable of. He didn't kill their neighbors from self defense. He beat them all to death with his bare hands out of revenge. He probably could of killed them quickly. Knife, Gun, etc. Instead he chose to use his own hands to hit them until they stopped moving. She probably figured if he's capable of that, what happens if her or the kids do something so bad that he snaps. It seems like he gets into a state and won't snap out of it until he's done what he's done.

Yea, he's clearly not stable, which is saying a lot considering Rick tore a guys throat out with his teeth. In this new world, 'stable' has a new meaning, and he still doesn't quite fit it. He would have killed Eugene had others not been there to stop him. The obsessive determination to move forward even when the outcome was probably suicide, the muttering to himself...the whole episode including the flashback was to show us that Abe gets fixated on accomplishing a task (the military was the perfect job for him), and failure is not an option. He failed with his family, first in letting whatever happened to them happen (which is probably why they didn't get into it - it wasn't what mattered, the failure was) and then in failing by not being able to keep them safe, and being the actual cause for their death. In his mind, Abe failed big time and the only choice was to give up - until another mission/goal was presented.

Now that he has no goal, no mission - what's he going to do?

Finish what he started and eat his pistol.

She could have been or she could have just been stupid. Either way she was definitely stupid as she ended up dead along with her kids.

It seems like Abraham has had some severe issues with controlling his rage in the past as well, perhaps his family has been down that road before and had other reasons to fear him. Though, I would think he would have had to be pretty abusive for them to opt to take their chances with the Walkers over him. Either that or she was not in her right mind.

Or, this is all just so much over-analyzing and it was an easy way to make Abraham tragic, and show why he has been so driven.
