Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Where do you get this from? He knows Shane is a hot head and can fly off the handle but he hasn't thought of him as a threat to the group until Lori snaked herself up behind him and whispered in his ear that Shane probably killed Otis and that he thinks the baby is his and they should be together. As they were getting undressed in the tent Lori starts off with we've got to talk about Shane. She mentions how he lied to her about Rick being back at the farm and you can see from Rick's expression that he doesn't have a problem with what Shane did because it kept Lori safe. So when Lori sees that has no reaction, she escalates it by saying all the stuff about the baby and Shane being a threat to their family.

I'm with Voorhees on this debate. Shane is an @ss. He has never done anything for the group, but he has done a lot for Lori and Carl. We just haven't seen it all, but he got them out of the city and on the road to Atlanta. He did go to the hospital to rescue Rick but couldn't considering Rick's condition. You don't just unhook a comatose patient from his IV and throw him over your shoulder and leave. What would that have accomplished? Rick would have died from malnutrition. AT least he barricaded him in the room, which arguably saved his life.

The group has just happened to benefit from his protection but I don't think he has ever cared for anyone else in the group except Lori and Carl.

Next week's preview shows Rick and Shane coming to blows, but I doubt either one will die from this fight. There's still too much story left this season for one of them to leave this early. However, it is pretty clear that at some point Shane is toast and hopefully Lori is right behind him.

Oh yeah and Dale too. "Dale is the mechanic of the group." :lol Priceless!
That'll be 3 of us. I do believe though that it's a given that Shane has helped the group a lot even though it hasn't been shown. Just the idea that he is the most trained and is proficient with a firearm would suggest that he has kept the group somewhat safe from harm. I think most people would be shocked at what they would do to survive if the situation presented itself.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Why'd I have to read that. Oh I know, I thought it was a spoiler about the episode just gone.

Anyway, good episode, though heck I like them all. Dayum, Lori really tried (and probably will have succeeded) in provoking Rick into a confrontation with Shane. WTF is she doing?? By the looks of the advance footage Shane has the upper hand straight away with that headbutt. So is it next week yet?

I think because the guy is so young, he felt he had to save him. If the guy was older, he probably would've left him, or shot him.

As I watched that scene I pictured what would have happened if Shane had been there, And I pictured him shooting the kid in the head as they were arguing about his leg.

Rick might have thought of him as possibly the 'Glen' of that group considering his age.

He also was likely thinking that saving the guy would possibly, contrary to what Shane and Andrea think, avert a war with the other group.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Rick saved him because he was helpless. I don't think it's any deeper than that.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

If Rick didn't already have underlying doubts about Shane, then Lori is the most effective seducer since the serpent in the garden of Eden if all it took was a few words whispered in his ear.

Timing is everything, and she picked the right time.

I don't deny that Lori did a good job of maniuplating him, but if Rick had no concerns about Shane beforehand and he's so maleable that a few words from Lori is all it took to shift him, then Shane is right, Rick shouldn't be leading the group.

It's what I would have done and I think would have been the right thing. He put his people in danger by helping out a person who moments ago was actively trying to kill them. I'm no survivalist but I think letting your heart make decisions for you when your brain should be is a real good way to wind up dead.

The right thing maybe, but a boring TV show. That's what keep us watching, zombies at their heels, being shot in the head, you yelling at the TV,' get the hell out of there!'

Rick is the prime example of a great leader, he even extends compassion to his enemy. Shane is the neccessary evil.
