Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC
As to the 'invasion', I'd agree that it's not going to happen. Not enough time in two hours, I'm thinking, and if they just decide to move on because Randall escapes (and the coming winter - they've made a point of bringing that up repeatedly, and perhaps they'll decide that further north is a good idea anyway) that leaves this group out there for a potential later meeting. Maybe they won't have a full scale invasion, but perhaps some further smaller meeting that just proves they need to get the Hell out of there before this larger group shows.
What makes it a tough call is that we know most of them are probably intended to survive...and yet if 30 or more heavily armed people show up, that's unlikely. They could replay the situation in the town though - the bad guys show up and attack them at the farm, the battle ensues (and depending on how much ammo they have left, which they've made a point of saying isn't much) goes on for awhile until...whoopsie, half the zombies in the county show up for a quick snack! The bad guys are in the open and exposed, attacked by zombies, have to retreat and the good guys escape...I suppose they could fit that in.
Originally I thought Herschel might be a goner this year - makes sense in the context of the group moving on, with just Maggie going with Glenn and the others dying. Now I'm not so sure though. They set him up over the last couple episodes to be a good Dale replacement. First, by coming around to the idea that he needs Rick and the group to take care of his daughters, and then by having that moment with Glenn. Remember, Glenn went to Dale for advice and treated him like a father figure - now, that role can be handled by Herschel. Also, he seems to be finding his center again, coming to grips with the situation.
Of course, Jimmy, Otis' wife and the blonde daughter could all still end up dead this season, but I'm thinking at least some of them will make it to the beginning of next season to be early zombie food.
