Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Thought the second episode was pretty good. Reminded me a bit of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

lol. i agree with earlier poster it seems something was going on before all the business went down but thats the point, i didn't see a need to have this story line as theres already enough going on.

i'd have rather seen a buddy moment with the 2 cops being happy to see each other than to have the inevitable drama of whose the wife going to chose, the fight between the guys and then episodes full of awkwardness. leave that stuff for soap operas.. IMO!

just my personal preferrence, i probably wouldn't make a very good director or storywriter though. :lol

AH CRAP!!! F'N SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN EP 2!!!

I'm ducking out of this thread till I see it.

Well Rich, you have to figure that people are gonna talk about last night's episode in this thread :lol

As for the situation with the wife of Grimes, let the story play out. . .

:lol I know... I'll watch it tonight. This is the first show since Deadwood that has really grabbed my full attention.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Well, perhaps you should wait to see how they resolve it before you assume too much :D

Whoops - of course, I was refering to you, Prog. This part of the early storyline is one I hope they keep intact, and resolve in a similar way to the books.

All I will say is this:

Don't expect Shane to die nearly as early as he did in the book's storyline.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Have we established how much time has passed since he was shot and the apocalypse took place?

Nah - I don't remember if they even mentioned it in the books when he was reunited with his family, but you'd think they would...seems like a good 4 - 6 weeks from the flower delivery to the wake up.

I love how they put the gurney in front of his door at the hospital too, just to give a little more reasoning as to why no zombies had wandered in during that period.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

That doesn't mean that one subplot will be dragged out. Shane's arc is one of the things that will be a bit different in the show.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

i didn't realize the partner's name is Shane. Any reason for that name such as the Alan Ladd movie where the wife comes near to following for the title character?

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

oh i see now.

dude I've been impressed since the first few minutes of episode 1. my only negative statement was that i could do without the cheating wife bit. also, I don't get off seeing flat chested broads like that in bras. waste of a perfectly good sex scene, imo.

:nono

Not good enough. That's too many.

If you think about it logically, sex is one of the most important things in the world now. To not be having it would do horrible things to your emotional state. Being able to have it would be a psychological lifeline. Sex gives you the most direct, most clear and most intense experience of the knowledge that life is worth living, and when life is hanging in the balance the way it is in their situation, having that knowledge is everything.

Shane saved her and her son. The odds that her husband is alive are as close to zero as you can get. After looking at the hospital, I can understand how no one in their right mind would attempt to find him. It would have been certain death (as it was for everyone who had been there, except for him, and that's only becuase his door was blocked).

The idea of her not going to Shane would make zero sense.

Just like the idea of you not liking this 101%. :wink1:

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I hope they keep his "fate" intact. That's a powerful ending. I really don't like Shane though in the series nearly as much as I did in the comic. Not that I liked him a lot in the comic, but I could relate to him more in it. In the TV series, he seems like a ****** right away. In the comic, he seemed like he really was doing what he felt like was for the best.

If they keep his ending intact though it has a big payoff for certain characters. Was a moment when reading it I was like "wow, this really is serious ____"

Yeah! I said that during the first episode. They made Shane into a ********* almost immediately.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Last nights episode was Gnarly and and awesome! I'm really liking all of the casting choices so far. I'm wondering if them
leaving Merle(?) behind will come back to bite them in the ass somehow.

Come on Prog. You make her sound like a two bit tramp. She doesn't know her husband is alive.

I think it's pretty obvious that Lori and Shane were having an affair before the outbreak.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I never read the graphic novel/comic books but this show is pretty impressive. The 2 episodes so far were great and for a cable show that's not on a pay channel like HBO or Showtime they show a lot of gore. I can't wait for this Sunday's episode.
Do you think with the popularity of the show SSC will bring back the 1:6 scale The Dead line?

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't think that's obvious at all - in fact, I'd say they went out of their way this week to tell you they weren't with the scene where

she takes Rick's wedding ring off from around her neck. That pretty much tells me that she's still uncomfortable with it, although in all likelihood her husband has been dead for quite some time.

Had they been involved previous, that scene would make no real sense.

They also went out of their way to make it appear like Shane had a thing for here at the beginning when they (Shane and Rick) were talking in the car, which works much better with his personality - he used the situation (Rick in the hospital with a zombie outbreak) to get what he wanted - Lori. He realized it was his chance to get her then.
