quite a solid season ender. the farm escape was pretty thrilling.
but i have to say that lori's reaction to what rick said has got to be one of the laziest, most contrived bits of screenwriting ever. come ON. it feels unearned and out of place. it's so obvious the writers are trying to (artificially) manufacture drama and discord between rick and lori over shane's death (and carl shooting him). to me, it just reeked of daytime soap opera. i was actually pissed off when that scene played out. i was hoping that they wouldn't play her flipping out but true enough, they did. the character of lori may be purposely written as erratic and unsympathetic, but there are more organic ways of conveying that than the way they chose to do it. ESPECIALLY following the antagonistic way she'd been behaving towards shane all this while. one single "confession & make-up" scene is not enough to make the character have such an about-turn.
now some of you might try to call me out on it and say "well why don't YOU write it then?" to which i say: the onus is not on me to write better. it is on the writers of the show. i may sound like i'm down on the walking dead as a whole but i'm not, i'm really just taking issue with one problem i feel has plagued the show from time to time --- not knowing where they're really going with certain characterisations and then winging it or force-fitting things because it's more "dramatic" or expedient.
but yeah, other than that, the show rocks.
bring on season 3 and michonne!
