Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

You're putting your own personal slant on the story based on your own code of morals and ethics which in turn would prove the writer's of the show successful because you've become emotionally involved. I guarantee you that everyone will read Lori and Rick's dilemma and what they "should" have done on both sides differently to degrees both ways.

Everybody is going to do this until we see how it's resolved. :dunno

And no one is saying they haven't been successful or saying they shouldn't have written it that way, its just the way I feel within the story that it was hurting our main character who at this point we all should care about more, which is why I am rooting against her. Coupled with all the other reasons I pointed out.

But yea I mean no doubt, with the exception of Boardwalk Empire, this is the best thing on TV. :duff

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Naw man. Like the cracker said: to leave him up their wouldn't be human. You gotta keep your humanity even when someone is an ass hole.

I hear you Mag, and I'm sure that was the reasoning behind the writing, but subjecting the remaining survivors to the threat of danger that that mofo clearly posed is plain irresponsible in my opinion. He seemed like he offered nothing and could cost them everything.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Yea, Crackers not dead, I'd put money on him coming back and causing trouble. Maybe he'll have to saw his own hand off or something.

Doesn't everyone do this? :dunno
I'm not criticizing the writer's technique or the directing of the show at all. I think it is top notch. I am just saying that I fall into the "Rick" camp of how I would act in this situation and not the "Lori" camp and thus cannot relate to the Lori character or feel much of any sympathy for her right now. We'll see what happens when they meet up next week.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I'm surprised by the hate for Lori - what about Shane? He's the one this whole set up is really about, think about it. He wanted Lori before anything ever happened, and when it did, he convinced Lori to leave Rick for the good of Carl. Once he had her away, he manipulated her further for himself.

Shane is a classic self centered prick. Anything that puts him at risk is a bad idea, including going after the people that were trapped in town. That's part of the beauty of this set up as I see it - Shane has set himself up as the defacto leader of the group, but the group doesn't like him. He thinks (and Lori probably does too) that nobody knows they're sleeping together, but that's probably not true. People figure this stuff out. It's just that Shane is pretty much the only leader option for them right now, but once Rick shows up, that changes. And the writers and actor have given us a very believable leader in Rick - he's a natural. He knows the right things to say and the right things to do to inspire people to follow him, and when he comes to camp, I think both Lori and the rest are going to gravitate to him. How is Shane going to handle that? The fact that Rick trusted Shane as his partner is going to make Shane much more dangerous than some dipwad like Merle.

I don't know if they'll go this way, but if they do, I can't wait to see how they handle the complete loss of power - over lori and the rest - that Shane is going to experience.

But I still hope they don't drag it out too long - I'd like to see things wrap up with Atlanta by the end of four more episodes tops.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Well I guess I figured it goes without saying I dislike Shane as well, but he didn't bare Rick's child.

I'm not down with the new age share your wife swinger's club, I'm more Tony Soprano, a guy ____'s the mother of your child you beat him to death with your bare hands to prove a point.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't know that its icky. Icky would be openly banging the hell out of each other in their tent because everyone "knows" that Rick just died. Research has often proven that in times of grief, humans seek out that primal urge of looking for closeness and human emotional contact often focused through sex. She is just following that basic human nature (which you pointed out) but that doesn't make it icky to me, just more believable. She assumed he died long ago, especially considering the state that the hospital was left in and so the grieving in terms of crying and caterwailing has probably already passed and while she is still in grief, you can tell by the possession of the ring still, she is giving into that need for closeness and security found in a physical relationship.

Cool, so when the Zombie Apocalypse happens and you go missing I can head to your place? :p

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

It may vary from the comic unlsess of course your working on the show in which case get me a job.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

They haven't f'd anything up thus far. To this point, all divergence from the books has been for the better and has elevated the material, imho.

That said... there is more in store, and diehard devotees of the book probably won't be pleased with all of it.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Either way its hard to see Andrew Lincoln in this kind of role especially since my point of reference for the actor is Love Actually but I'm enjoying it either way.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't hate Lori. I just don't like her or feel any sympathy for her. Have you read the comics? Otherwise, you make a lot of assumptions in your post (see bolded parts). I don't like Shane either. He does give off that sleazy, spineless vibe. He's the type of guy who won't think twice about stealing your wife/gf or taking off and leaving people behind when the going gets tough. I haven't read any posts liking or defending Shane's actions, but people are trying to rationalize Lori's behavior which is why my focus has been on why I don't like her.

God help the person that says they actually like Shane. :lol

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I'll say this about Shane (BTS)... The actor playing him (Jon Bernthal) is an extremely cool guy who has two awesome and sweet pit bulls that he takes everywhere and his girlfriend is easily one of the hottest chicks I've ever seen in my life.

If you're gonna "hate" him, do it for that. :lol

Just another thing to add to the list. :rotfl

Maybe I missed the post, but IrishJedi do you work for the show? You seem to have a lot of inside info on the show.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

One other thing I noticed during Shane and Lori's love scene. They both have tattoos (Shane's is on his chest and Lori's is on her lower abdomen). They both looked to be words in a swirly script. Are these matching tattoos? Anyone have any screen caps of this? Might not be important but if they are matching, then my dislike of Lori just increased exponentially. Maybe that will be how Rick finds out about the two of them?

Yes and no. I was on set and covered the filming of the pilot episode for Total Film Magazine and IESB (who I no longer write for). Because of that I was lucky enough to be cast as one of the Atlanta zombie extras in EPS 1, 2 and (possibly) 5 and was on set a lot of the time. And I'm doing some work with Rainbow Media (AMC's parent company) on PR for Season 2.
