Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC
well, i must say the season finale redeemed the show. the last 2 episodes, to be specific. it had a bit of everything, humour, warmth, pathos, action and tension.
i liked the sense of hopelessness as the group realized things just got worse for them in the underground facility. and that no one is left out there to "fix" things. no governments, no scientists, no armies. just one guy doing the best he can in the time that he has. it really hammered home the full extent of the zombie outbreak, and the futility of holding on to hope. and yet, some of the group, like rick, still hold out for a chance in hell. it says a lot about the different facets of human nature.
i also liked the way shane's arc has finally played out. i knew he wasn't a clear-cut traitor/sleazebag. he did have very good reason to leave rick behind, cos he genuinely believed rick was dead. he seemed to be filled with guilt in the last few episodes, and a certain sense of resentment that rick's wife hates him. he is flawed and human, and it's not hard to see why he fell for his best friend's wife after such an emotionally wrecking experience.
overall, it was quite a satisfying finale for me, and jenner's whisper is a mild teaser for the 2nd season. it's not an overt cliffhanger, but i think it's just enough to leave us wanting more.
