Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The only problem with the gore IMO is the digital blood is getting kinda lame. It wasn't noticeable in the early episodes but in the finale it looked really crappy (maybe budget constraints since there was also a CGI explosion!?). But overall I agree, there's a nice amount of gore. Swearing? Sure.. but TBH I didn't really even notice the lack of it so it's not something I would want them to tack on just because.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

l think the show was alright. l think it could of been better if it was picked up by HBO. there would be more swearing, gore and just more darker or gritty then AMC would allow, like the Romero zombie movies.

I'm actually suprised it's as gory as it is considering it's TV-14. Haven't seen to many TV-14 shows where people rub themselves down in zombie blood and guts. But yeah I do agree more cussing would benefit the show a little more.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Daryl is my most favorite character of the show :rock2

Mine to. Kind of reminds of an anti-hero Stone Cold Steve Austin type of character who's not entirely good and not entirely bad either, but is very unpredictable.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

7 things from The Walking Dead comic that should have been in the show

https://m.io9.com/5707668/7-scenes-from-the-walking-dead-comic-that-should-have-been-in-the-show

Obviously there are some light comic spoilers in the list, bit they're nothing too big.

I highly agree with io9's detailed take on this. While I did appreciate the tv show's first season, like io9 I felt it a lot of aspects could have been better.

While I am sure the books are great, I am glad I haven't read them because I don't want to watch the show and have something to compare it against. I wouldn't be able to watch the series without comparing it to the book which would diminish my enjoyment of the series. Books are almost always better than their tv/movie counterparts. This is one case where I am consciously making the decision to enjoy the series for what it is and then after it is over (as in series finale) I may go get the books to continue my enjoyment of the show through the books. If that makes any sense to anyone. :lol

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

better get used to her, she's a major player in the comic and i assume will be the same in the show. you've got at least 5 seasons of her. she gets super badass though.
Yup, Andrea is a bad ass.

They said in EW that Tyreese and Michonne will show up in the series.

Darabont also said he's a huge fan of "The Governor", so he's probably coming too.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

i also liked the way shane's arc has finally played out. i knew he wasn't a clear-cut traitor/sleazebag. he did have very good reason to leave rick behind, cos he genuinely believed rick was dead. he seemed to be filled with guilt in the last few episodes, and a certain sense of resentment that rick's wife hates him. he is flawed and human, and it's not hard to see why he fell for his best friend's wife after such an emotionally wrecking experience.

I agree about Shane. He's very laking as a person, but not cut and dry bad. What was the deal with him almost shooting Rick though?

:exactly:

I thought the blood CGI was some of the worst so far as well.

I'm glad its not on HBO because then I wouldn't be able to watch it.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

So with earlier speculation about what Jenner whispers to Rick. I was originally on board with those thinking it's pulling a storyline out of the book. After rewatching the episode I'm not 100% sold on that idea anymore since Rick asked Jenner earlier in the episode about the blood tests and Jenner specifically states there were no surprises. Now maybe he said that because he thought it would be better that he not know since he planned on decontaminating everyone in the end, but maybe it's just us filling in the blanks because we've read the comics and are looking for certain plotlines. Season 2 is so far away to find out for sure. :(

He didn't say 'no surprises' did he? I thought it was more along the lines of 'nothing unexpected' or 'nothing abnormal'. In other words, nothing to indicate zombie-ishness. When Jenner said it, I thought it was very evasive and oddly worded.

As Ill pointed out, his infatuation with Lori is driving him crazy. It's been a while since I read the comics, but I think Shane comes across much less sympathetic in the books.

That's a pretty important scene in the comic. Comic Spoiler -

In the book, Rick has started teaching some of the older kids how to use guns because of the zombie threat. Rick and Shane go out into the woods and Shane aims at Rick, just as in the show. Except in the comic, Shane is shot by Carl. So by this point in the comic Shane is already dead.

1) Yup, to the point that he almost rapes Lori. Bastard.

2) I really hope we get to see that scene.

Jenner said 'no surprises', very casually he said it.

Why would they show us a scene where Jenner asks to take a sample of everyone's blood (and does)? Andrea even asks, 'wouldn't we be running a fever?'.

Jenner said there were no surprises because he knew everyone was going to die with him in the mass contamination the next day (or so he thought).

I believe he whispered into Rick's ear that _______ is infected. But if someone is infected, why would they have not turned yet? I am sure there are a select few that exist out there whom are immune to the infection (or whatever it is). They might be able to contract it, but they themselves will not get sick/die from it. Either way Rick was definitely shocked by the words Jenner spoke in his ear.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't think anybody is infected, at least not in that way. In fact, I assume they are going with the way the comic book did in this regard:

Everyone is already 'infected', i.e. carrying the virus. It isn't what kills you, but it reanimates you no matter how you die. You get killed by the zombie bite for a completely different reason.

I had that thought to. In fact for one wild second I thought Shane didn't hear Ricks hear heartbeat because he was already infected! :panic: :slap

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Anyone else cheer during the finale when the sister said she was staying? Then she changed her mind. :(

I wasn't. I like Andrea. :D

and pick up tyreese, donna & the daughter along the way

 Make it so, AMC!

I bet that's what will happen.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I think they did a great job with the character development, what can you expect from 6 episodes?

The CGI Blood looks awful though.
