Anyone watch talking dead's mid-season preview? Kirkman said that it was a scene straight out of the comics. Anyone know? I'm curious too.

Lilly shoots him in the back of the head during the assault after she witnesses Lori and Judith die during the assault:

Lilly is actually an Army brat/Army vet in the comics/Telltale game.

Great episode. My heart sunk seeing Hershel go out like that. Good to see the Governor go, he was a great villain.

My only gripes were the following,

- little girl dying from an underground mud walker was the most contrived thing I've seen in a while. High tides? Alright. That's ridiculous. Where do these walkers have the energy to move like that, especially when they've been "drowned", rotting and buried.

- the Governor HATED Michonne. Why wouldn't he threaten to recap her instead of Herschel? Especially with her own sword! Governor could surely see how poetic that would be. Then to let her just roll away? Eh, don't get that one at all. He even thought Herschel was a "good man".

In the comic, it was actually Tyrese and Michonne, but unknowingly, Michonne manages to escape. On here, they did it in front of everyone. I guess it's because he's sadistic and would rather kill her slowly in another fashion.

Yeah, didn't buy into that either.

And yet, Rick gets the shaft yet again and Daryl is made out to be a badass again. We've barely seen Rick this season too. Rick's character has been treated like a red-headed step child for awhile now. I don't know how you continue to rally behind him.

Maybe because I understand why Rick is the way he is. I also know that this is a TV show and not a comic. It has to be played out differently.

As for Daryl. How was he a badass in this? Everyone was shooting everything. He didn't stand out at all.

I think if Daryl didn't have a lot of fangirls, some would still love the **** out of his character, but........:dunno

I honestly don't know why some of you watch the show. If I hated on it and the characters the way you do, I'd watch something else. Seriously!

The Governor knew his daughter would see it for one thing, and that Rick would probably have stronger ties to Herschel than with Michonne. Governor calling Herschel a good man was him once again just BSing.

That would be my guess. Killing Hershel in front of Rick and his two daughters was going to hit harder. He wanted to take his time with Michonne. With her it was personal.

Oh, that's when it's back?

Cool. Feb 9th is my birthday.

Mine too. Easy to remember.

Wouldn't killing the beloved Hershel first in front of the group make a even bigger statement than killing michonne ? To show them he meant business.

I thought the same thing. If its Michonne, then its a revenge thing. If its Hershel, who even he described as a good man, then its just evil.

Not if he wanted to take the place with out a fight.
The group went ballistic when beloved Hershel was executed.

No, it would just make them retaliate even more. Which it did. The Governor knew that. Better to threaten Michonne and/or kill her first to show how serious he was.

The end game made no sense, nor did the killing of Herschel or simply letting Michonne Sonic the Hedgehog out of there. If anything, the speech about coming back is what made the Governor snap. He knew he couldn't hence the "liar".

Gov's a random wild card, sure, but that and the flood waters walker was too contrived for my tastes. Right up there with Andrea getting bit. Still a great episode though.

He took out a tank lol.

Over all it was some pretty good writing this episode.
Alot of things came full circle. Much pathos.
I liked seeing Hershel smile at Ricks impassioned plea.
He knew at the end he'd reached Rick.
Also being the faithful man of God and being martyrd by the evil Guv was worthy of the New Testament saints.
You earned your wings Hersh.
