Gotcha. Hey I asked for the proof and I got it as close as you can probably get it.

But such is life, guys make the statues for guys. If you don't like it don't buy it. Or make your own. :)

Well I won't and I have. :)

In all seriousness, that is very nice. What scale is it?

I have to admit, being disappointed in the Willow statue has kicked my lazy butt into starting up my customs again. I just ordered some more mold maker. Wish me luck.

Nice job, Sue. But I think you have to give him a bigger package in order to fit in with the new line.

Yeah, make it bigger, as well as make him taller and built like a brick _____house. :rotfl

And as for scale It's about a foot high. I'm afraid I didn't make it dead on 1.6th scale though. I only sculpted the body and clothes and my friend did the head.

I just ordered some more mold maker. Wish me luck.

Oh I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with. :D

Exactly! If you don't like how something is done do it yourself! Make that badass as sexy as you want. Naked for all I care.

Oh thanks ever so much hon....

Thing is I tried to portray Spikes/JM's body language, ie how he stands when in character as that's part of who he is. Pity Sideshow can't be arsed to do the same with their figures or they'd know Willow wouldn't pose like that. It's all off.

I just ordered the Ex. Willow wasn't always a bookish, asexual, person in the series. She was sexy and playful at times (particularly in her college years) and I think this statue captures that element of her character nicely.

Can you actually cite Willow wearing that kind of outfit as a norm or behaving in the fashion? Fan boys are so used to this hyper-sexualised style that just depicting a normal, attractive woman becomes "asexual".

Same here...Well said.

Thank you. I appreciate your responses. Glad to see a fellow female fan agrees.

I agree with everything you’ve said.

Thank you. Again glad to know I am not alone.

But I still think it's about even. That's my opinion. Not to be confused with a factual statement.

Even if it is roughly gender parity, do you realise how unusual that is for a more action/adventure oriented shows? What percentage of Star Wars, LOTR, Trek or BSG fans are male?

You even assumed I was a guy when first responding to my criticism, what does that say about the collector norm?

And if being equal in numbers to guys for once, with a female-driven property no less, does not give us consideration in the design & marketing process, what percentage does it have to be before appealing to us become acceptable to expect?

But such is life, guys make the statues for guys. If you don't like it don't buy it. Or make your own. :)

God forbid a white, heterosexual male think outside his own demographic, even when the core of a licence is not that 'norm' for once.

I'm just glad Joss Whedon does not share that mindset or there would be no Buffy to begin with and the crew on Firefly would have a token women, no more (probably dressed like Sucker Punch).

You need to get down off your high horse. Jesus. Please you can't tell me Joss didn't pick SMG and start the show with Buffy being a sexy girl who kicks ass.

Agreed, outstanding work. Spike is sexy and yet you artistically achieved it without having to do some over-blown, out-of-character romance novel pose. How IS that possible? :wink1:

Just to clarify, I didn't assume anything about you.

Oh yeah, she was a sexy little hottie. Same with Faith. How about we all agree to disagree? All I care about is that I'm fine with it and I ordered one and I am a woman and I like it!

Exactly, well put. And yeah, Joss freely admits he chose his cast based partly on their looks, but that didn't mean that Willow was seen in the first season hanging around street corners giving the blokes a 'come hither' looks, did it? And thats the kind of body language thats emanating from that statue, for me at least. The cloths on that are ridiculously OTT imo.

I mean Cordy she wasn't.

SueW and StarP, I think many of the men and women here agree with your interpretation of things. However, the manner in which your message is being presented also risks being perceived as male bashing in the process. At that point, you may find the the people you're hoping to reach may have stopped listening to what your saying and have instead begun to pay more attention to how they're feeling about how you're coming off.

Again, I (and others) have voiced similar concerns as yours earlier in this thread. However, in my experience, very little is solved by communicating your thoughts and ideas in what might be perceived as an aggressive manner. It generally ends up shutting people down and putting an end to any worthwhile commentary and discourse.
