I hate getting weird phone calls at night. I just got one on my landline. I pick it up and there were about a half a dozen bell tones, then they hang up. It showed Unknown Caller on the ID. Now I'm gonna think about it all night.

When every once in a while a customer you thought was sound reveals themselves to be a bit of an arsehole and makes you feel like an eejit.

Sometimes I just ****ing hate the service industry. Stress-free much of the time, but today....

Best job I ever had in service was a liquor store. I've never seen so many people at once happy to wait out a queue they wouldn't tolerate for more than half a minute at a tenth the length without complaining.

I don't deal with customers complaining very well, hard not to take it personally, particularly when they start getting sarcastic with you. Really took me by surprise, I meet this guy out on walks (he's actually in a motorised wheelchair but that's incidental) we exchange hellos and sometimes other friendly small talk. Today he speaks to me like I'm half the age I am because we forgot to keep one of his magazines. Couldn't believe it, rendered me speechless. I get to spend the rest of my day stressing over what I should have said and what I would liked to have said - not necessarily the same things.

I wish I could just PWN like Skiman.

I understand that totally, that's why I never take my frustration out on customer service if something isn't right. It's not their fault. Why take it out on them? It's like taking it out on your waitress because something isn't right on your plate. She didn't cook it. Don't be nasty to her!

What? No . Devil's my friend and we discuss philosophy to our hearts content. It's the Blackthornone posts that really start derailing conversations into the realm of weird. Once he starts in a thread, you know for certain that there's no coming back. This forum needs a devil to kick ass.

I figure I'd let it continue for a while before I request for a mod to shut it down. I still hate it, though.

I gave it more thought and realised I actually am more culpable in this than the waitress would be in that scenario. I am not solely at fault, its more of a collective responsibility and lack of communication but that won't matter to him. Apparently we forget his magazines on a pretty frequent basis so I guess he's starting to take it personally

Must do better.

As far as customer service goes, sometimes IT IS their fault. I remember that people were saying online that if you had a problem with your cable you had to ask to talk to the manager or someone special like a representative because the people that get the calls first don't give a crap and they won't mind if you cancel. But someone higher up will care and they will probably give you a deal or a discount

Big difference in customer service of that type. It's not what I was talking about, or what a-dev does.

If it weren't for me, he'd have a forum to preach freely with little opposition. You'd be listening to his nonsense everywhere he thought he could get away with it. I'm at least an incentive for him to temper his need to proselytize. Not much of one, but it's something.

I'd be perfectly happy to not have to interact with him. Maybe we'll all get our wish some day. Also, maybe you'll become useful. What a world it would be...
