Walk around NYC, and there will be people trying to spit on you . Without mentioning anything specific, it's mostly the f.o.b people who've recently arrived in the country. Some parts of Queens look like trash heaps because they just toss their litter on the sidewalks when there are perfectly functional waste baskets at the end of every block.

Around here you can get tickets and if you make too much of a mess, you can get arrested. You can get pulled over for throwing a cigarette out of your car.

It's a strange thing. Teenage boys the world over seem to have issues with excess saliva in the mouth which must be immediately expelled no matter where they are.

There are also people of certain cultural persuasions who prefer to blow their snot directly onto the ground instead of into a tissue or handkerchief.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. A lot of the larger cities in Europe have problems with pick-pocketing and scammers.

I've never been able to do that. And I've never seen a woman hack and spit on the street either.
