Man, if it's not the economy, its some thing like ebola or now zika. Anyone pregnant or with someone pregnant should be fearful.
Forget ghost, zika is scary! Booooo!

I heard something about it being sexually transmissible. Heard the same about lyme disease.

And Aids. Seems like there's always a new bs thing doing stuff. I constantly wonder what orbiting space station really does where it can launch anything from the world rotation.

I blame society and parenting as a whole. We have started raising children with the mindset that they are all little princes and princesses and deserve everything they want. University better hold fast and not give in one damn bit. If these young adults don't like it? Expell them.

Pffff, University, like any business, are in it for the money. A degree is not a guarantee of a job these days. Some that do graduate, most with a large student loan, will be lucky if they can find an intern gig or a foot in the door.

On the other hand, there is always the nut job somewhere on campus. Mr. Green heard a black woman said she would never work as a security guard on college campus.

Kids really need to stop being coddled and allowed to fall down on their ******* face. All this time to protest and no time to better themselves without someone else helping them.

Totally agree. I also think that is why so many teens kill themselves because they are being bullied.

I'd like to think the 90s generation were the last generation left with any kinda skin for criticism. I got bullied, like most people. Sure it hurts, but you get a tolerance from it and we didn't need this "safe space" garbage.

On top of that, these "participation" trophies... god forbid you give a child something to strive for.

Really no worse than the chemicals they put in it.

I was bullied terribly in junior high, but since I didn't care for any of the ones bullying me, just considered the source and ignored it.

In high school no one really bothered me. Everyone just pretty much stuck to themselves and didn't bother anyone else. If something ever did happen, I had enough big guy friends to take care of it.

I was a Queen back then as well. :D

Awwww.....I miss my little Sparky. :( Back then I had to beg to have my pic taken with my pet. Nowadays they can get whatever they want because they threaten lawsuits.

:D

Bullying these days is a lot worse than what we went through, I think...there's the online bullying, texting, etc., that's kindof hard to stop. When I was a kid - and I was bullied a LOT - it stopped when I got home. Now, with being connected all the time, it doesn't.

That said, I still agree with everyone. These kids are waaaaay too coddled nowadays. I work in IT, so generally speaking, I'm the first person people meet when they report to work on their first day. My company hires a lot of recent grads. Now, I'm only 31, I've been out of undergrad for 10 years now. But I've noticed a BIG shift in attitude of the kids coming in a few years ago. It used to be that they/we were grateful for whatever they got. They understood that they were coming in as the low man on the totem pole, and they would need to work their way up. They don't get the newest equipment, and they were ok with that.

NOW, it's like every one of them DEMANDS a brand new PC of their choosing, an iPad, a phone, expensive software (why does a leasing person need Photoshop? Answer: They don't), etc. It makes me sick. And the sad part is, sometimes - not always, but sometimes - they actually GET it.

I think colleges don't help things. I remember even when I was there they made out like you were some big deal for having a degree. Um, you're not. It doesn't mean much. Get over yourself.

One of the smartest people I know didn't finish high school. Some of the dumbest people I know have degrees. I see nothing wrong with getting a degree but I really wish schools would also push trade schools.

I bet few people 30-40 nowadays would switch places with being a 20-year old.

If kids are coddled in some ways nowadays it's no surprise. It's not simply parents to blame, it's a whole-of-society phenomenon. But they're incredibly resilient in other ways. The kids are ok.
