That looks ****ing terrifying.

The way the story calls it, the guy was on his way out the door. I don't know about the US, but in Oz stores can be insured for robberies. Let the guy go, claim the loss. Store owners and attendants don't tend to get shot and killed over here.

This isn't a story about gun rights, it's a story about reckless stupidity for the sake of a few bucks.

yes! defend the robber. beautifully progressive :clap :clap :clap

he didn't do, nothing wrong. Those ladies deserved it, correct! :goodpost:

Let's have a duel Blackbeastcrows. I'll bring a shotgun, you bring a mouse gun. Because, you know, progressive.

What if society decides that we are tired of working hard and just form a line out front to claim money from register? That's actually happening in parts of Asia and Africa

even though the girl did not know this, that guy is tied to 10 other robberies, thus they inadvertently stopped a very dangerous man from hurting other people.
Yes, They did risk their lives and the guy could have hurt them a lot more. But when she closed that door, maybe, I think,maybe... she just, didnt want to let the bad guy win? maybe her gut reaction was to stop a dangerous guy from getting away?

Can you imagine if all our superheroes thought the same way of what you said :lol "why stop the joker? insurance will save the bank" "why stop Green Goblin, the police need to do their jobs!" :rotfl

That's not the point I'm making. I'm talking about this specific case, where clearly the attendants are ill-equipped to properly identify the risk and deal with the threat confronting them. They were extremely lucky, in a situation where risk-minimisation is key.

Again, not the point I'm making. Pay attention Blackbeast: when it comes to engaging an aggressor, you have to be prepared. These women were not prepared. They were lucky.

You think simply having a gun means being prepared? Once you get into a struggle with a weapon that's a pretty clear indication that things have gone wrong, either with your risk assessment, your critical decision-making or the suitability of your weapon. In this case it looks like all three.

Dunno what that video you posted is supposed to mean. Having a weapon wouldn't have changed what went down there at all.

the video only shows how these situations tend to end up here in America. Im sure robbers dont do that In Australia but in here they tend to like to hurt the person. there are hundreds of cases of a clerk saving their life and business by being armed. as well as hundreds of people being injured for not having one. These guys are not like the thieves in Aus. they tend to be more dangerous.

Thats why Also Stores in here have bulletproof glass... so that this doesnt happen, Until some ***** said those glasses are discriminatory and got them banned in Philly.

WHAT do you think the store owners that have to get rid of their bulletproof glass are going to do next for security? what do you think they will buy instead???

That second video is somehow equally disturbing without any type of weapon at all involved.

The only thing I would say to Lejuan is that you really don't know how you'll react in these situations - unless they happen so often as to be routine. Logic and rationality can and will go out the window. I can easily see how they go for their guns. If indeed the criminal came back after they'd shot at him seems to me his own logic was impaired. If he failed to get anything you'd think he'd write it off at that point and try somewhere else another day.

The poor girl in the second video just didn't stand a chance. She didn't suspect the guy at all. What a ****ing scumbag to just full force punch an innocent woman in the face like that, I don't care what your situation is.

in the second video, that was the second woman he punched that day... he also had 41 other cases of theft.
Im not saying gun would have saved the girl in the second video, Im saying videos like that will make other women want to get a gun... and be careful when men enter their store. The girl was way too friendly and way too trusting. There's nothing she could have done in that situation but guys like that prey on weak people.
My whole point is that guys like these make innocent people run to the gun store. Lejuan says the mom and daughter of the other video were stupid and not prepared.

But, how exactly do you prepare against robbers? thats the other thing lejuan doesnt explain, how would the mom and daughter better prepare? They have a lot of security cameras, they can lock the door from inside and they have guns. A lot of these cases can end in **** as well. how is being armed NOT prepared against that.
Lejuan you need to explain what you meant by not being prepared. with realistic examples

Personally I wasn't making any statement about guns, merely reacting to those videos. They sort of hit home because I've been in that situation twice - albeit where the crims had knives.

im not very pro gun either (not against it either) but i do think a lot more women would be safer if THEY were armed. look at Florida, they are talking about arming teachers.
sometimes I think if more women (specially cashiers) were carrying, maybe we would see a decline in violent crimes against them.
I never understood why the feminist movement never became pro gun as well, they are trying to disarm everybody. but we all know gun laws wont apply to the bad guys. What do they really think would happen if law abiding people were to lose their guns..... it baffles me that feminists in america are so anti gun.

I think it's funny when people say that they don't think that anybody would be any safer if they were armed. If you have another option it's another option and you should have that option available to you. To say that you don't think somebody should have a gun because you don't think that they would ever use it properly or at all it's just plain stupid.

You don't know how you'll react, that's true. But generally, training kicks in if you've had any. These women had sod all training and an inadequate weapon. They thought they could lock the guy in a secure space, but apparently one of the door locks failed. I can see the logic there, and clearly they didn't expect to have to engage him at all. The problem here was that the weapons were contingencies and not up to the task.

Lejuan you need to explain what you meant by not being prepared. with realistic examples

If you are going to fire a weapon, you need to be properly trained. That doesn't just mean knowing how to shoot at a stationary target - you should be drilled in how to engage an advancing assailant. You need to be drilled in how to respond when there is a friendly in the line of fire. You should know the stopping power of your weapon and make sure that it is, in reasonable circumstances, able to put down an assailant. The list goes on, but these three aspects in particular found these women wanting in that exchange.

And make sure your locks work.

If you don't have a handle on all this stuff, let the guy leave with a few dollars.

Who's saying that here?
