The way I took it when I was accosted that time was that I was acting smart and ruining other people's fun. Or maybe they just thought I would cry if they told me I was only fake smart because my self-esteem somehow depended on other people recognizing my intelligence. But that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it?

I don't know. Maybe I should just stop posting. Other people's feelings are clearly more important than my big mouth. Right?

I was wondering this exact same thing. It's far to early to label these as flops.

The ol' to/too/two mistake. Time and time again on this forum. They aren't pronounced the same so when I read this sentence in my head it leaps out at me and I marvel at how it doesn't immediately stand out to the person posting it. Or maybe I'm Ron Burgundy?

Really? Are they pronounced differently in Ireland? Here, all three are the same.

Huh. For me ''to'' is pronounced more like ''tuh'' - very distinct from 'too'' which is pretty much its own phonetic spelling.

It appears you're right though - according to the online Dictionary I use. People do also pronounce ''to'' the same as ''too'' and ''two''. However I think the sentence I quoted in my above post reads really awkwardly if you pronounce both words the same.

I didn't create it, but I got a cat the other day, a 4-year old from cat rescue. Hopefully once we let him outside he'll show himself to be as good a ratter as old Maggie used to be.
