Oh, nothing wrong with them!

I don't want them because they're not articulated, that's all! Besides, bigger means more room.

You see, for me this all collectible business is not collecting art, for me, like I said, they're not an investment, they're just expensive toys for grown up kids.

So for me, PF aren't interesting because they're not really toys, and they're not art because art is unique and not based on a particular film/series/game. Thus, who's gonna care about a PF Thor in say 100 year? All this (1/6/PF/Props) are very limited to the present moment and since I don't see them as objects of value, at least I'd rather heve cool, articulated toys than frozen statues.

That said, some are really great looking!

What's wrong with PFs? Hot Toys prices are getting almost as expensive as those.

This is great advice. I never understood the whole "completest" attitude. Just buy what you absolutely like.

For example, right now there's some fool haunting the commerce section who is buying every 1/6 figure that comes available, including customs, no matter how bad the figure looks, just so he can add a new figure to his collection. He's hit this hobby so hard that he's bound to burnout and move on to something else that can give him a better "fix." Every time he posts his new gets, I just laugh and think, I give this guy 6 months before he's "getting out of the hobby." Guys like that don't last very long.

At any rate, good luck to you Sanshou and like everyone else said, if you're truly thinking of quitting this hobby, come up with a number of figs you would like to keep, maybe 10, sell the rest and see if you can enjoy quality over quantity.

The Ternes, forget about DVD's, video games and Hot Toys, your priority should be to find a way to get the hell out of Bismarck ND. Below zero temps, I don't know how you do it?

When I think of you, I envision the Cohen brothers film Fargo. Not a lot of activities to do there I bet.

You can say that again. I get off work at 11 at night, and if I want to do something afterwards, I have 3 choices. Go to Denny's, go to Perkin's, or go bar hopping. Seeing as I don't drink... yeah. Thank goodness for movies, video games, and places like this.:rotfl

As some of you may know I've talked about what it would take to quit the hobby. I think I've come to the end of my line and need some freak advice. When I was younger I managed to dig myself into a bit of a hole financially and have been trying to maintain a healthy balance between digging myself out and remaining in the hobby. Let me tell you that is hard as hell... I've limited myself to just Hot Toys comic movie figures. I've kind of splurged with adding Ezio, King Leonidas, and Barney Ross to the mix but that's it. But with everything that's coming out (Capt. America, Mark V VERY SOON, then Mark IV etc) things seem to be getting too hard. I even had to pass on the suit up gantry!

I now need to seriously cut back on figures but I'm not sure I can because I'm a complete-ist (is that how you spell it?). I can't give up any of the Iron Man Marks because I would be bothered by having Mark I, II, III, VI and not V or IV. I want to have the hall of armor. I would feel incomplete if I had CR Superman but no Keaton Batman or Joker. I passed on Spidey and New Goblin but there is still a large list. I figured if I can't have a complete set I may just give up the hobby and sell off what I have... Which is a lot.

In my situation what would you guys do? If I sold off my Enterbay Bruce Lee figures I would probably be able to get myself out of debt. That's assuming the HT DX Bruce Lee release didn't decrease the value of the Enterbay Bruce Lee figures ($600-$900 each). I've tried talking to friends and family but no one can understand the need / love of this hobby. To them they're toys. To us it's artistic appreciation and a lot more.

Please counsel me friends.

At these point, I'm not only talking for you, but for me too, this hobby has become an addiction, I keep telling myself "one more figure and I will stop buying more" but I can't stop buying more figures, I even gotten to the point that I stole money from my parents to buy more figures, I trying to find in myself to stop but I can't, like you also you said you buy one figure and then you buy another from that same franchise to complete the set, it very hard to stop and I don't think I will :monkey2

That's not very good at all :nono

I would suggest have a good long think about what lines/characters are really important to you and really must haves.

Then keep those, and sell everything else, and just force yourself to resist buying anything that is just cool looking but you don't truly love the character

Getting into debt and stealing for this hobby ?.
That's causing way more trouble than it's worth , if I couldn't control myself like that I'd quit altogether , it would take the fun out of it for me. Like you say , it's no longer sounding like a hobby but more of an addiction. :monkey1

Sell some of your collection that you don't like or need. I would not be stealing.

I myself have sold off statues that I found did not fit or that i grew tired of. I also sell blu rays off and other stuff I can find. 10.00 here and 20.00 there really adds up.

Limit your collection. Personally, I think, unless you have the funds you should only order 2 or 3 things a year.

I understand your position, i've borrowed money from family members to pay for something that arrived a few weeks before it was due, i'm not in a position where i can't quit and i'm not one of the collectors who buys something that they don't really want just to have a set or team, i think many of the HT Avenger collectors will buy Fury and Hawkeye even if they don't really want them for the sole purpose of having a team.

You've just got to buy figures that you really want and that should keep you within your means, sometimes you have to sacrifice one for the other, to prioritize one you really want over others you just want.

Forget him. He's either making up the stealing part or just a sad crap. If I have to go cold turkey, I'll go cold turkey. Big deal. I was ghetto poor before. Eat freakin grass, dammit.

This hobby is hard. It's NEVER worth going into dept or stealing. You'll just be in a worse place and its then even harder to her out of.

I've made a mental list of what I have, what I'd like to display and what I have coming. Anything down on the list or in the middle, I started selling off. If I can't enjoy it or it's going to stay in storage forever -then there's no point of having it.

I smuggled a black-market rodent in my ______ for a man named Dimitirius to pay for Keaton Batman.

If you quit, still being an active member here won't help keep you away from the hobby. I know when I'm done with my collection I will probably have my account deleted or in keeping with my Avy should I say have my fire put out!:D

When I was a much younger man, I made some serious mistakes and stooped to some very low levels to satisfy an addiction. The only way that ended the cycle was for me to get caught and then I resolved to get away from the things that drew me to those mistakes.

Honestly, I would quit cold turkey and move on to something else that you can put your energy into more positively. You might need to go so far as getting every toy or statue out of your house.

The first thing I would recommend is telling your parents what you did and pay them back. That way the guilt won't eat at you and it will turn the page.

The worst thing you can do is pretend you have it handled.

I had a neighbor who used to steal $100 bills from his Dad all the time and never got caught, but What I couldn't figure out was why didn't his Dad ever notice? Sure,he was wealthy, but come on!

Most people are not that wealthy for them to not even notice they are being stolen from by their own family

Sounds like his dad was likely in denial.

this is no drugs or alcohol, it's some toys. If you want to quit, then just quit. What a punch of p****es.

you'd be surprised what people can be addicted to. acquiring stuff can be quite addicting. Some study I heard about said that there's a part of the brain that gets satisfied when you shop similar to what drugs do.

Pfftthh Alcohol and drugs were easy to quit once I realized I'd have more money for all these toys!:monkey1
