Your paragraph above is one long, running act of smug, paternalistic condescension. You as a man are telling me as a woman how I should behave and react to depictions of women by men. That is every bit as bad as white person telling a minority how they ought to feel about racism.

The "I think you need a new hobby" line is typical of the way my views do not just arouse disagreement, but deeply threaten some of you. It would be better if I was just gone. And of course you point to women who you feel are behaving in the proper manner, not disrupting your little club.

No it is not, but there are multiple board members who routinely bring up their emphatically-stated dislikes about the hobby and they do not have people raging at them with quite the personal fervour I inspire in a select group. There are also plenty of people who drop in social and political views constantly, some getting threads locked on a regular basis as a result.

I am sure you will claim it is something uniquely awful about me or my opinions, but the fact remains I am a rare woman on this site who speaks up similarly to the more opinionated male members. And a small core of you seem to hate me for it.

If this were about my opinion and not my gender, you would also address the people who agree with me in similar terms, but that does not happen. A man who agrees with me should be no less "ugly" or an "angry feminist" than I am. Go call a few of them that and see where it gets you.

Alright, narrowing this down.

You're either trolling, a weird immature boy with identity/mommy issues or a frustrated girl who just wants the D.

Your posts make me feel the hobby is being threatened because I commented about you ranting and raving about a stupid little doll from a painter that has some language barrier issues? Hardly. :lol I mean, how are you threatening the hobby? There are far worse things happening like price hikes, knock offs, gauging, etc. and not even those "threaten" me. For the record, I think that custom is lame and forgettable but I don't see the contrived controversy you're pulling out of this.

You're preaching about a custom doll in a forum about action figures, statues and collectibles. It's silly.

Who's threatened?

You could learn a thing or two from women around here who can hold their s___ together. You're not being persecuted. Stop pretending you are.

Males whose "emphatically-stated dislikes" are as ridiculous as yours get smacked just as hard. Most of them actually have something to do with the hobby, though -- rather than some half-assed feminist critique of a lonely dude that dressed-up his doll too sexy.

We don't call men who agree with you "angry feminists" because they're not. They're pandering p______.

It was a hairy testicle in a soft-boiled egg cup. I'm not kidding ... and I can't think of a better way to describe it.

SnakeDoc

Is he posting breakfast pics again? :slap

Nobody cares what you eat in the morning, werewolf!

Well, Puffs must have thought better of all this because the post in the Black Widow custom thread ceases to exist. Unless of course a mod disposed of the post.

I don't understand the whole "threatened" thing either. Nobody should feel threatened. Not the painter in the custom thread, not Puffs, not collectors in this hobby. It's just so silly how a forgettable custom doll (something we see in this hobby all the time) gets so much discussion and has become this controversial item. How it's managed to get 7 pages full of long rants, from both sides, is beyond me.

The irony here is the actual customizer is probably oblivious to the whole thing.

Can I watch?

You can watch be you gotta pay $100.

You won't let anyone tie you up. But you want to watch KD get whipped by AS?

Doesn't sound very fair to me.

So King, if you are going to let Weenie watch, I would be happy to know that you made her allow you to tie her up to do so.

:monkey3:)

What can I say, I got trust issues. Tying me up takes away my fun, IMO.

Letting me watch let's me see a nekkid King.

Woah, wait up....I don't mind doing the whipping but does he have to be nekkid ?? :panic: :panic:

I am a lesbian ya know, we have standards. :lecture :lol

If my wife could answer in this thread she would tell you that I treat her very well. I am the consumate gentleman. I always open her door and the like. She would also tell you that I do about 98% of the cooking and probably 90% of the cleaning. I make more hourly than her but she makes more yearly. I am hardly what you would call a male chauvenist pig. But I also like erotic art. Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazettta are 2 of my favorites. I'm a big Conan fan as well. In almost all of his art work he is painted as being the hero who is saving the damsel in distress. What you are trying to do Starpuffs is paint me and others like me who like this kind of art as mysogynist. Can't it be enough in your eyes that we just like this kind of artwork? That we are not trying to hold back women or mistreat women, that it's just a style that we think is cool?

This whole thread reminds me of a little dittly I read in Readers Digest before. A man was going to a door a little ahead of 2 women. As he got to the door he held it open for the ladies to go through. The 1 rolled her eyes and said, you don't have to open that door because I'm a woman. The man responded back. I'm not holding this door because you're a lady, I'm holding the door because I'm a gentleman. Not all men are trying to "put you in your place" Starpuffs. You just look like you're looking for a reason to be offended.

This is a hobby built on entertainment and fantasy....hard to get upset over someone's fantasy figure. We all have our personal preferences and what we like in this hobby doesn't define who we are in reality.

I've met many members on this board at SDCC and they were all stand up, respectful guys. Who cares if some may like a scantily clad figure....or will be checking out the women dressed as slave Leia at conventions..I'll be on the look out for the sexy men dressed as gladiators. :naughty

While I have seen better Gladiator costumes - good for him for going all out there. Looks like he's having fun and that's what things like Con are all about.

yeah I could never do that. Braver than me he is :lol

The less clothes a figure has on, the closer to God it is.
Before the introduction of sin, we never knew we were nekkid.... :monkey1

I think the real bottom line is, anybody who gets pissed-off at a little harmless objectification is in for a long, bitter life. I don't think anybody's going to be giving-up ogling the fairer sex anytime soon.

(Not only that, but girls are not going to stop wearing those tiny outfits they do any time soon, in fact I see girls pushing the boundaries of what is allowed/accepted to be worn more and more so it is a win win for us :yess:)

The female mods are enjoying trimming all the gifs. :lecture

Ever since the Greeks and Romans started depicting the heroic ideal in statues, be it a male or female form, there has always been a sexual overtone.

Before anyone says "yeah, but it's more explicit now!" I promise you there are many examples of classic art I would not be able to post here without getting my second infraction for the month. :monkey1

Women objectify men, they just do it less often and when they do it's in stuff like "50 Shades of Grey".

Everyone who's ever had a sexual fantasy has to some extent objectified a man or woman (and occasionally a farm animal).

I think the most important thing to learn is if you're a chubby dude in a Spartan costume go ahead and airbrush your abs.
