Hey guys,

This is my first post - I decided to save it until I actually took the plunge and got my first PF

I just ordered the Thor PF... it cost be USD463. I know some of you might think it was stupid and impulsive, but it wasn't. I've being really patient but every single place I pre-ordered the item (in the UK, I live in London) kept shifting their dates - leading me to suspect that they didnt have stock as SideShow have sold out.

I got it off eBay for $320, and postage to London was about $137. Are there any other folks in the UK having trouble getting hold of this?

I've just bought it a few hours ago and although I paid for USPS priority and insurance, I do not expect to get it anytime before before 10 - 14 days.

But that's what we suffer here in the UK :-(

BTW I Love these forums and you guys made me make the jump!

What are your thoughts? (be nice, I'm a n00b!)

Wow... your postage seems a bit steep ($137 to London)...
But it's worth it.

I'd really like to know how someone in the U.S. shipped a box the size and weight of Thor to London for $137 dollars? The shipping dimensions alone push it into some type of uber expensive shipping category.

That is a very good price for postage i was quoted $300 from the US

Have since ordered it from play.com but its anyones guess when they'll have any stock

I pre-ordered from Play too;I called them and they said they didn't have it in stock.

Does anyone know the exact date it was released stateside? How come UK retailers still have it flagged as "pre-order"?

As posted above play have yet to receive their stock and therefore on a week-by-week basis they are moving the release date back. I cant wait to get this piece and wont be cancelling my order as it is the cheapest pace to pick Thor up in the UK

Asssuming they ever get it in stock. Have you ever placed pre-orders of rare uber objects (what I call in geeky terms "objet de puissance") with Play?

Well I have. Several times.. guess what? I'm still waiting! Unless Play actually have these items listed as "In Stock" then you'd be lucky if you ever get them.

Having said that, I kept my pre-order with Play. Just the other day my order status shifted from "Pre-order" to "order taken". Then the item status shifted to "Out of Stock". 1,250 units in existence, I'm guessing Play wont have any more than 5 to 10 of them... if any.

It was at that point that I, in desperation, got it off eBay. :chew

I'm like you and still left my pre-order with Play, but I couldnt risk paying something ridiculous on eBay a few months down the line, simply because I put all my eggs in one basket... best I take the jump and get off eBay now. If Play fulfills my pre-order (I've had it with them for MONTHS) then fine - I'll sell it off on eBay.

so what you are saying is they are taking orders for an item that they wont even get in stock, i find that hard to believe , if they have ordered from sideshow surely like anyone else that has an order with sideshow they should get them in , just like if you or i would have ordered direct from sideshow , that is right isnt it ? or am i .

You would have thought they would be allocated a number of these PF's once that limit had been reached it would show as out of stock.

I hope they are able to fulfil the orders as i placed an order for the Iron Man 1:1 as well (ages ago) and i hate to think i wouldn’t be able to get either of them (especially the IM 1:1)

worst, you never stated how he was shipping the item. What service did he use (or is going to use)? The item is too big to go USPS (max length plus girth is 108 inches to the UK). That leaves Fedex and UPS and their rates are double what you stated.

I'd love to know how he said he was going to ship.

I don't know about you guys but I bought the exclusive because I liked the beard/helmet better. I started thinking was it really worth the premium? Well I put the standard clean shaven head on and thought he looked...lets say a little less masculine. I had to immediately put the exclusive head back on. Much better.

I agree, I think it looks much better with the bearded/helmed head.

I just got my tracking info for the Thor Ex.. Can't wait to see it in person. I guess Thor was the first Marvel character to make an impression on me when I was a boy. But then again, back then, it wasn't like Marvel had the same status and fame in Europe like it had in the US, so perhaps I missed a hero or two, three that I might have liked at the time.
Like I said a while back, I just knew my WL would convert. No need to panic back then. But, when SSC says that they are out of replacements, even BEFORE all ex. are shipped... hmm... .
Some called it the day the ES for the ex. was announced: this would become a grail. Well, let's hope so, although I'm still not convinced. Why? I just can't imagine to put down $1000 + for a polystone figure anymore. I'm not saying that these figures aren't worth the price, but, honestly, are you willing to pay $1355 for the exclusive Doom? $1000 for the Grey Hulk? $1400 for the negative zone Spidey? $1640 for the Grey Hulk vs Spidey dio? $1645 for the first Sentinel VS dio?
