I think his battle cloak is too short, it should hang down to his ankles.

Thor is an awesome character, and has always translated well into statue form IMO. This will be my first Marvel PF, and I cant wait to see the real deal! ...have no idea where I'm going to put this monster though :google

The only other PFs I would really want are Doom and Hulk, but unfortunately those are way out of league now :( I'm just happy to be in on Thor here now while he's still at retail! ....even ordered it with flex-pay to further deter me from canceling :joy

Thor is ok, but we need more Bad Guys !

True that about Kirby trumping a Simonson but I think that those pics of Thor with a longer cape were illustrated by John Romita Jr. not Simonson.

Still ^^^^^ing about the cape length??

Don't like it don't buy it...geez! :D
Let me educate you where I'm comming from because obviously you don't understand the post. I for one plan on buying this piece whether the cape is the length I think it should be or not. From the pics that I have seen this one of the best sculpts of Thor and is long over due. It will be welcomed in my collection and displayed with all the other versions of Thor. My comments are minor and will likely not be heard or acted upon by Sideshow. I posted the question to say what I noticed about Thor's cloak. In most of the depictions of Thor and the sculpts that I have seen IMO the cape is longer than what is shown by Sideshow. A possible reason for this is to better show the back of Thor's legs. If the cape was too long it would obscure the back of Thor.

There are only two thing that I would change on this sculpt and they are:

1.) Lengthen the cape.
2.) Add a metal belt.

Other than this few things the sculpt is perfect. Kudos to Sideshow for making this a home run. Now lets pray this will survive shipping.:banghead

basing the capes length from crappy statues sux! :monkey1

The cape is a bit short but not TOO short.

After looking at this more and more I'm changing my mind about the sculpted cape. I like it.

Save the futzing for the 12 inch action figures. I like my Premium Formats to look spectacular out of the box. They were obviously going for a very dynamic in-motion look for the cape and face it, 90% of us would try and pose the cape to look half that cool and fail.

Check out the WIP shots and commentary in the production blog. Gore rocks.

I got a kick out of this part:

we based our vision right from the mythology that describes Thor as a Hidromiel drinker with a big appetite.

:D

This pic really brings out the detailed base, which I missed at first glance.

And you can see a muscular tone below his shirt, which may still be present but just not viewable in photos with the black shirt. I'm liking Thor more and more.

Edit: Belt also looks better in the Albino pics.

I actually like it better in all white. :lol

This one is definitely a keeper.
