If SSC started making bronzes I'd go nuts. Can you imagine a Bronze Hulk PF? :google

This will be my first PF! Love at first sight! :love

In the beginning I didn't like the exclusive but now I regret that I didn't place an order for it.:banghead

I love the Exclusive head!!! That's how I'll display him.

A bronze would rock.

After looking at this more and more I'm changing my mind about the sculpted cape. I like it.

Save the futzing for the 12 inch action figures. I like my Premium Formats to look spectacular out of the box. They were obviously going for a very dynamic in-motion look for the cape and face it, 90% of us would try and pose the cape to look half that cool and fail.

might've failed but woulda liked to have tried lol.
sadly as much as i anticipated this piece, w/o a fabric cape i'm not getting it. i'm tired of the Marvel line getting short changed when it comes to "mixed media". i stare at my LOTR, Universal Monsters, and Star Wars PF and marvel at the tailoring and craftsmanship that went into these outfits, then look at Marvel and they're damn lucky to get half an outfit in cloth. the sculpts are top notch, 2nd to none, but part of me just wishes they'd be released as full statues. it's starting to feel like mixed media, when attributed to the Marvel line is just a gimmick.

Bravo!!! Glad I order the EX! :joy

I'm glad I ordered the exclusive as well since it'll be fun to have two headsculpt options but I much prefer the clean shaven head. That's the iconic look and I think the exclusive head is a little two busy looking with both an additional visor and beard.

Thor had a beard for a little while during Walt Simonson's run but no visor.

Helmet + visor debuted in 1991 and face it, the 90's were a lame decade for comics. :lol

I hear where you're coming from but keep in mind that other PF lines are actually based on real life costumes shrunk down to scale. Its a lot harder to replicate something drawn in a comic book in 1:1 scale let alone 1:4 scale when you're dealing with things like Captain America's form-fitting scale armor.

There's no greater a supporter of mixed media than myself. I agree with you 100%. However Khev makes a good point - these aren't based on real world movie costumes, but idealized comic book looks. Would I have preferred if Green Goblin had a fabric or leather green scale costume? Sure! But would they have been able to get it to look as good as the sculpted version they went with? Same with Cap's chain mail, Spider-man's entire costume and Thor's cape. To get the look of the figure perfect they chose to go with sculpted pieces. I agree with this decision on Gobbie and Cap, not so much Spidey and Thor - but I own (will own) all of them and they all look fan-^^^^ing-tastic.

So I'll live with the sculpted cape...

First post...I love Thor and pre-ordered one!

cloth cape or not, this is the best Thor statue I have ever seen :)

I too am glad that I ordered the exclusive, but I prefer the other head. Either way, we'll be displaying a magnificent piece!

With regard to the helmet, however, there is a bit that must be clarified.

When Thor was injured by Hela, he grew a beard to cover the horrible scarring that resulted from his wounds. He wore his normal helmet until he forged his battle armor (The Mighty Thor #378).

He never wore the masked helmet with his normal costume.

When Eric Masterson took over for a while as Thor, he wore the masked helmet from the Battle Armor and he was bearded. But he made some modifications to the costume.

The bearded head, while cool, will be an out-of-continuity costume change! The Exclusive PF Figure depicts Thor in his classic costume with the helmet from the glorious Battle Armor. Or if not THE helmet from the Battle Armor, it's certainly inspired by it.

So, the variant will depict Thor as he was never seen in a comic: bearded wearing the Battle Armor helmet (or one similar to it) along with the classic costume. Which is fine. It's still going to be great. It's just never been seen in any comic book.

I appreciate the research and the love for the character but wouldn't the pic posted above negate your argument? At very minimum the PF Exclusive shows off the cover of Thor 433......

The cover to Thor 433 depicts Eric Masterson as Thor. That's not the "real" Thor. Also, if you compare the costumes, Masterson's costume on the cover of 433 has been overhauled so that it is quite different than Thor's classic costume.

Check out how different Thor is compared to Eric Masterson.

The PF Figure is certainly not the faux Thor as depicted on the cover of 433. :)

I still think the exclusive head makes him faux Thor, since the Walt Simonson "battle armor" Thor had a gold helmet. The Eric Masterson Thor had a silver helm and visor, just like the PF. He just somehow got a hold of classic Thor's tights. :D

And a side not Dana since you obviously are well versed in all things Thor; do you know what issue Thor put a dent in Captain America's shield with Mjolnir? And what issue did Cap pick up the hammer? I've been googling those moments but can't find exact issue numbers.
