Yeah unfortunately DS was nothing to write home about, it's the first MCU movie that I haven't rushed out to buy on bluray.

I still don't know why I bought IM3. :lol

But Thor and Hulk in a psuedo Planet Hulk / WWH plot, please god let it be epic.

But right now it looks like a syfy movie.

Good point, which means Thor 3 probably will too. I forgot about the Disney critic buyout. :lol

cbm burnout.

I don't think I'll be seeing another superhero movie in theaters for a very long time. Maybe Justice League since that's a huge deal, and the convo in here after will be great :lol

Mind boggling, obscene and unexplainable good reviews.

Yea, It was pretty damn forgettable. I honestly can't remember much about what happened in the film. I do know that Mads Mikkelson was one of the worst villains in the MCU though, and that's saying something. Malekith being the worst in my opinion.

They should just give the rights to Fox, give us an R rated Gladiator-like Planet Hulk movie featuring Thor.

But Iron Fist is getting trashed, soooo... Honestly, I never bought into that. MCU flicks are fairy-tales with flashing colours. People enjoy fairy-tales. They give them a fresh rating and that's it. It's not like they're all above a 7/10 or so. TWS & Iron Man are just diamonds in the rough.

cbm burnout.

I feel ya. Hype-Wise:

No Hype at all for: WW, JL & Homecoming.

Medium Hype for: Ragnarok (mostly cause of Taika tbh), PotC 5 & GotG 2.

HYYYYPE for: Kingsman 2, Blade Runner & strangely enough, Covenant. I probably won't see it in the cinema (yeah I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to loud sounds, sue me), but I wanna see it.

I'll also probably catch on Blu-Ray: F&F8 (yeah I know, but eh, they're good time-killers), Ritchie's Arthur, WftPotA & TF 5.

CBMs need to diversify a bit. Morrison's X-Men done right could be amazeballs for example. A Doctor Doom flick could be the perfect modern Shakesperean play. An R-Rated Morrison Batman flick with Black Mirror and Doctor Hurt would be incredible. We need some risks, different storylines and not super-heroics.

Thor does look a bit like Spartacus/Gladiator but I think it works. The short hair is basically a Samson nod reflecting that he is depowered, stranded on an alien world and without mjolnir. Plus doesn't he get short hair in the "unworthy" comics?
Blanchett as Hela looks sexy as hell. I'm sure she will wear the headdress at some point. The only question is will she be 8 feet tall.
Valkyrie is a major letdown. Tessa Thompson is exotically beautiful, sexy and a talented young actress, but I would have really preferred something more comic accurate--6' tall blonde amazon with long braids. While I know the trolls will whine about the race swap, that's not the issue with me. My issue is with the height, character design and costume design. At the very least they could have given her two long braids. As for costume design, I haven't seen something that generically bland since yesterday's Black Bolt set photo. No metal **** cups or blue cape? Maybe they will give her a more comic accurate metal bra costume, along with the winged horse, back on Asgard.

One of the big drawbacks of the Disneyfication of Marvel is the desexification of the female costumes. Most of the major female characters show little to no skin. I'm sure Disney has some kind of a restrictive guideline for female hero design -- no thongs, bikinis, cleavage, bare legs unless with a skirt, etc. -- which must really hamstring costume designers. That's probably what happened with Scarlet Witch. That's one area that DC and Fox do have an advantage. At least X-Men Apocalypse got Psylocke's look right and Wonder Woman looks good. If Disney had WW, she probably would have been wearing pants.

I do like the look and costuming of the background extras. I don't know why Goldblum's Grandmaster couldn't have had blue skin as opposed to the little paint mark. I guess that has to do with the already established Collector design because I think they are supposed to be brothers.

I don't know what to expect from Waititi. All the talk of comedy and quirkiness has me a little nervous, but he recently came out and downplayed it. And we all know the highlight is going to be the Thor v. Hulk gladiator smackdown.

Oh I don't literally believe that Disney paid off critics but I do think it's almost comical how pretty much every movie the MCU spits out gets rave reviews while other studios struggle film after film to crack the 30% barrier. :lol

man you guys are crazy, Doctor Strange is easily one of marvels best, it's my third favorite origin film after iron man and Guardians.

Anyways these pics look fantastic, I am getting more and more excited for this film with every new piece of marketing we see.

A harmless fairy tale is far more likely to be fresh than a pseudo-intellectual flick that takes is self too seriously. Marvel rearely takes risks and is thus, safe. The others take too many all at once, and they more or less result in, well, you know...

Dr. Strange was very good considering how difficult the source material was to translate to the screen. Could've only worked given the state of modern f/x and cgi.
I was pleasantly surprised by the movie.
Translating a great Thor series should've been a cake walk by comparison... which is a real head scratcher.

Strange was... good. They threw away all the occult stuff, so the flick had "advanced science" to play with and in the end, it hurt it. Maybe the sequel will be "darker" and have a more magical feel. Rugged and "depressing", in a way.

Good point - take a look at the RT blurbs for Strange. It's 90% fresh, but the reviews aren't glowing. Just did a quick scan and the impression I got is "cool effects, good acting and a wacky third act save this generic story."

Most of the RT/Marvel/Disney rage tends to cite "freshness" as a declaration of perfection.

Pretty much. It works both way, though. DCDudebros/FoxFanatics point to the RT scores to prove that DisMarvel is bribing the reviewers. MarvelBois point to the RT scores to prove that the MCU is superior. They're all ridiculous.

The magic and effects were really generic and boring and in a DS movie that's not good!

He was good as Strange and it was a decent origin story but they dropped the ball on his trippy world and on the fights.

I did like how he ****ed with Dormammu though lol

The problem with the flick is that they put more emphasis on the "trippy" part rather than the occult. I wasn't expecting pictures of Baphomet and Covens, but ya know, something more... "esoteric"or something. As it stands, it wasn't a magical movie, as it could've easily been a cosmic flick with a few changes here and there.

Strange was the only Marvel movie I went to just because someone asked me to go. I have no attachment to the character. I remember being more entertained than I expected but only really impressed by the final fight through the un-exploding city block.

Yeah occult we were never going to get...Anton Lavey as Dormammu lol

So since I knew they were going with trippy science dimensional magic I was hoping for more spells at least.

Then Strange spun the earth backwards at the end, I yawned and went home.

Yeah, the final act was a nice touch with the time spell.

I'm not a horror guy at all, but I was expecting some basic cape "occult" stuff at least.
