They could've set some things right in Avengers by having Odin bestow Molijnir with interdimensional access. Makes Odin sound more powerful via his Odinforce and squares up canon all around.

But if they did that, that would not be a possible opening to introduce Strange; look at it like that.

I just want a cameo, just a little peek. Like Hawkeye got in "Thor," kind of. :snake

Much rather see Strange get his own film than Ant-Man, I can tell you that. And he's getting a movie first... man. There is no justice.

You're speculating that the Dark Energy reference in Avengers is Stephen Stranges "in" for getting him on screen and into the Marvel cinematic universe. Sorry, you have no proof.

And if the screen writers are stumped beyond that on how to get him into the story then they aren't worth their salt as screen writers and should have their screen writers guild cards revoked.

I like the way it was handled in Avengers. It peaked our curiosity with a few lines of dialogue and set up Thor 2.

Actually, I suggested that. I just happen to point out the coincidences with the unnamed item from the first Thor, it's purposed in the comic universe and it's connection with Dr. Strange (together with the rumor of his appearance). Personally, I would be quite surprised if any of that would actually turn out to be true in the next movie.

In the end, they WILL explain how Thor managed to get to Earth in the Avengers movie and we will know what Loki meant by Odin conjuring dark energy but, like all others here, I don't think it will be by the means of the Mjölnir. Remenber, they even had to use the Cosmic Cube to return.

Of course I don't have any proof, and never implied that I did. My earlier post was simply to the effect that if using the Orb of Agomotto allows Strange to get a foot in the door of the Marvel movieverse, I'm all for that. I don't see it as a huge problem canon-wise.

I do think that the "dark energy" reference was silly and unneccessary, given that Loki seems to know a bunch of way in and out of Asgard that completely disregard the Bifrost. If LOKI knows a bunch, how many would Odin - ruler of the realm - know? But this is a minor quibble.

Still want to see Strange more than Ant-man, of all people. For real :slap

It seems like an odd item to be in Odins treasure room given it's history (i.e. Non Nordic or Asgardian) Yes I know the Infinity gauntlet resides there as well but I believe Strange received the eye from the Ancient One in Shangrilla/Tibet.

You're confusing two different items: the Orb is an object in Strange's possession, but the object usually referred to as the Eye is an amulet actually worn by Strange. The ORb looks like a large crystal ball.

[Actually I think there are three objects which comprise the so-called Eye of Agamotto, of which the Orb is one. Nice and confusing]

The Orb has several abilities, includin opening a dimensional portal for the user. The Eye cannot do this AFAIK.

I don't think the amulet-version Eye is actually in Strange's possession at this time, someone correct me if I am wrong. Hasn't he lost his powers as of late? Enter an opportunity for the Orb to be elsewhere as well.

Official synopsis:

Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

^ He didn't sacrifice Jane Foster to a Hell Demon to save the earth. He could still do that. A good old fashion ritual sacrifice.

But use his hammer instead of a nice sacrificial dagger. Gallagher style.

He might have to sacrifice everything just to get a haircut. He's really starting to need one!
