First look at Malekith....

HERE!!

Hmmmm.

I was kind of expecting the hair to be long and flowing, but I guess certain guys from the LoTR franchise have a lock on that. Puns intended! This is interesting and I anticipate more [and closer] pix.

Thanks for the link!

[EDIT: "Taking the masks out of the equation, we can get a good look at what the Elves' faces look like: half of it is pale as snow, half of it is dark as ashes, all of it is thoroughly intimidating. Thor's new enemies clearly mean business."

I thought Malekith was half-dead, and that was the reason his face was two colors...? Or he had been dead, and brought back to life? maybe I'm thinking of someone else.... article linked from that above is talking like ALL the elves will be bicolored. Hmmm.]

No sweat! Saw the article and booted it over here expecting a discussion on it already. lol

And it READS like that, but if you look at the 'Army' Elves, both ears are same colour as their skin, where with Malekith, the white side of his face has a white ear. But I dig the masks.

From BAD:

Holy cheeseballs! That's Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World, filming right now. Below is a shot of the Dark Elves who serve Malekith, and who presumably exist as cannon fodder to get smashed by Mjolnir.

These designs edge right up on silly. I love it. I rewatched The Avengers this weekend and paid a lot of attention to how silly Captain America's modern costume is; in ten years people are going to look back at this stuff as almost campy. Same with these elves. AS IT SHOULD BE! When stuff is colorful and fun it ages poorly... for a little while. Eventually we realize how cool it really was the whole time. Dark and gritty stuff will age into eternal silliness - remember that Tim Burton's Batman was considered beyond edgy at the time of release. The edge always moves further out, leaving current edgy stuff looking hopelessly goofy. Fun and colorful is always fun and colorful.

I think they are going for a LoTR look with all this.

I didnt find Cap's costume silly at all, and I think that the intent with this film here is to create a timeless look. And lets face it, armor is....pretty timeless.

By your reasoning, there is no sense doing anything because no matter what designs filmakers pick, it will be dated and silly in few years.

Well, first it wasn't my reasoning, that was from an article I posted, hence my "From BAD" (Bas Ass Digest). :thwak

Second, Cap's costume, especially his helmet, was indeed silly, he acted great, but looked scrawny in that outfit.

I was hoping for more of the elf look that was utilized in Hellboy 2 by the main bad guy. That guy screamed Malikith.

So that's Malekith? I'm not impressed...

The other "elfs"remind me of this:

Point taken and my apologies.

Second, those do indeed look like tracking markers on his face, should be interesting.

Third, the expressions on some of those elves with their masks off is kinda amusing. I bet even on a cold day - and its got to be cold in England - those suits are quite..... warm.

All very interesting, can't wait to see more.

Yeah, he sure did. That guy was awesome, altho I didn't care much for the movie in general. Shark-jumping occurred when Hellboy and Abe Sapien got drunk and started singing about infatuation..... my attention wandered and pretty much did not come back.

But that guy was too cool. I dont even remember his name, thats how much my attention wandered, lol.

Apology accepted. :hi5:
