The letter opener might look better with some weathering. I'll admit that threezero does a good job at paint on their weapons, they look more real than a lot of plastic swords from brands like hot toys, but they just feel cheap and floppy to me.

If they don't go metal I at least hope they can up the quality and density of the resin they use.

I also never really understood the "viewing distance" argument. This figures have hyper realism so they can be handled and admired up close!

It's like that girl that has a hot body from across the room but when you look at her face up close you're not exactly eager to jump in the sack with her ;) haha

sweet jeebus the first ned with ice i see on after and its at a ridiculous price. oh man this doesnt bode well in my hunt..............:gah: the letter opener option keeps lookin better.

I was also late in ordering Ned stark. I opted to go with the regular edition and just received the ice sword and long Claw letter openers through HBO. The long claw is the same size as the ice sword. Not a good option for the Jon Snow figure. If 3Zero ever plan on producing a quarter scale Jon Snow, This might work.

Any chance any one posting a side by side pic of the Ice letter opener and the 3zero one for a size and quality comparison?

Why is the letter opener handle in gold and the ThreeZero in dark silver? Which colour is more accurate to the screen used version?

I think size wise the letter opener is a good option, the blade is slightly shorter, but the handle looks a tad bigger as well.

in the show it does have the brass/gold on handle and ends of guard its just more worn and less visible like on the threezero ver.

at 58 secs here you see it, its just almost all worn off. Ice is a old sword, like 100 years old or so i think.

Honestly, it wouldn't be too difficult to make a passable sword out of some wood and styrene sheet. A bit more difficult with metal in place of styrene for the blade. Doing the pommel and guard out of metal would probably require some skills beyond rank beginner, but I don't think they're necessary to have something looking presentable.

Thanks bro. I'm purchasing the standard edition as I missed out on the exclusive. The letter opener will have to do. My worry though is that the gripping hands may not come with the standard edition.

I'm all for leaving out the stands and sticking with plastic swords to keep the prices down - but I would like to see them throw in some wrist posts, or even go with one for every hand. We're talking pennies here, and just sending you a couple more eats up dollars.

I doubt it. The regular Tyrion didn't come with the extra hands for his EX dagger.

correct to worry the ex does come with extra set of gripping hands that are wider to hold handle of Ice. tho word is reg sword grip hand can hold but its a tight fit, then pair that with one of the relaxed hands and he can hold ice but def not as picture perfect as the ex hands of course etc

I was afraid those hands may not be included. I still don't know why they chose the broad sword to be the exclusive. It seems to be such an important piece to the character. Oh well, I may have to use some unglived hands I have lying around. I did see some screenshots of Ned holding Ice with ungloved hands.

Someone at Threezero talking to someone else...

"The Ice sword is such an important accessory for Ned, why did this customer not order directly from our store?"

:)

To be fair, a lot of people became interested outside of threezero's order window. That is what I experienced with Tyrion. I didn't mind not having the dagger so I bought it anyways, but I would not have gotten Ned without Ice. Makes sense to encourage orders from the website but questionable otherwise.

im having a hard time waiting to find an ex on aftermarket for a more reasonable price :panic:

was their a order limit at time of PO?

I just didn't have the funds available when the exclusive was up for order or I'd have happily bought through them. :gah:

I haven't had to do it before, but I think I'm gonna have to start selling off older stuff from my collection to buy the new stuff I want. Maybe I can start using some rotating funds for a while, and maybe actually start saving a little cash! :lol

Plus, the collection's gotten so big, I really can't display and enjoy it properly at this point.
