Don't sugar-coat it Sue! What do you really think?!

:D

Well I could lie If you want? I used to work in an industry that deals with sculpture and this doesn't look like her. Oluf's original version was much, much better imo. Sorry.

And the throne? What the hell is the point of that? It adds nothing to the piece except extra shipping costs.

...While the likeness isn't spot on it is definitely there and you can instantly say hey, that is Buffy.

I agree. I still think the hair color is too uniform though. As I said before, I believe SMG is a brunette with blond highlights. On the statue, Buffy's hair is pure blond.

Of course, these are minor complaints. Overall, the statue is great.

I have only bought one PF and i really wanted this to be my second one, The pose was great, the mini was great the boots definitely the Buffster's style, but the face sculpt doesn't work for me. Everything else shows amazing artistry, but i needed SMG's face. I may not be the number one fan of Buffy, but I'd say I am a HUGE fan, and certainly hope they continue with the line.

When I hear "brunette with blond highlights", I envision dark brown with a lighter blond shading.

If I remember correctly, there were a few episodes where she showed no hint of brunette at all, no roots, no shading of brown.

But if this is suppose to be season 1 Buffy, both the sculpt and color is off, at least according to my memory. It's a bit too red, and there is no brownish shading.

I'm getting the impression this is supposed to be an "overall" Buffy that is not chained to a specific season.

*Fearless realizes saying "Buffy chained to anything" might take this thread into a whole new tangent.*

If that's the case, she did have brownish/blond hair in some seasons, but was a full blond in seasons 5 and 6, if I remember correctly. So in reality, if this isn't beholden to a specific season, then I get the impression they are going with a generic blond and hair style which looks remniscent of Buffy at any time.

And I now realize this is the longest I've ever discussed Buffy Summers' hair. I need to go kill something with my hands now to feel manly again.

Disagree. I think the throne is great! There is no point in reality I think it just adds to the piece and makes her look even more badass. I like things screen accurate but at the same time I don't. I like it when an artist has the free will to make it there own and that is what the did. I am glad they did the throne!

I fully agree with you bud. :)

I think you are right, this piece is NOT tied to a specific season. It is just the artists rendition of Buffy.

In my opinion, I see this as an extension/continuation of the Buffy vision, just as the comic book Season 8 is. Throughout Season 8, I've read a lot of things that I never thought I'd see the Slayer do, but at the end of the day, I said "I could see that happening."

For me, I look at this piece the same way. Do I ever remember Buffy sitting in a throne, in this pose, etc. etc.? No. BUT, I could definitely see her doing it. And that's what is important to me.

I definitely see everyone's point, but I really think a lot of you, who aren't "sold" quite yet, will start to see that this piece "grow" on you with time.

I wish I could agree, but it think we have a different views of the character and verse.

While I can accept and understand Buffy's need to go gay for one(okay, two) nights only, and can actually like the giant Dawn and mecha-dawn thing, among the things that have been "out there" in season 8, seeing Buffy sitting on a throne, in all seriousness, is too out of character.

Unless of course, you mean "you can see her sitting on a throne as a joke", not "she's sitting on a throne to show off her power", then I agree with you. I could see her sitting a on a throne, mocking the throne's owner.

But then again, she's robbing people now. What do I really know about Buffy anymore?

Hopefully, we'll see an actual copy of the statue at this summer's SDCC. By that point, we'll discover if any tweaks have been made to improve upon SMG's likeness. My thinking is if the piece truly looked like SMG, there would be more people saying so as well as more people eager to jump on board.

I'd like to consider myself to be a huge Buffy fan. IMO, this doesn't look like her from any season I've seen. There's room for improvement. It's still a very nice piece. However, it's not SMG.

I definitely see the Slayer sitting there, in a mocking fashion just as you said. :rock :rock :rock

And you know PLENTY about Buffy! :lecture

I definitely respect your opinion though, and can see both sides of the coin. Did you end up putting this on PO?

This is how I see it. She just wasted a big bad, he was some huge power guy and he had a throne. So now she just laid back on his throne because she just owned the ____ing ____ out of this guy and needs a rest but at the same time she is like, "Yea I just wasted that guy, what now?" because some of his cronies are still around looking at her like "uh, what do we do now?"

I'm still having a hard time with the likeness, I keep going back and forth whether I like it or don't. It's really strange. I think angle and lighting plays a big part. The other problem is every time I look at her face to evaluate the likeness, my eyes keep shifting to her breasts so it's hard to make a determination.

I think fans can generally live with seeing Buffy sitting on a baddy throne. Buffy certainly had a snarky side to her so it's no biggie or stretch. Ultimately, I think more people take exception with the likeness then they do with the pose or throne. Besides, who can argue with those boots!?

I'm thinking she just slayed a demon, and is showing her lack of respect of the situation by sitting in its own thrown. (You know, with that typical Joss-inspired wit.)

I can see her saying: "Wow. That was a workout. *sits down in the thrown* Next?"

*and scene*

I can so see SMG saying that!!! :lol

This is where people will just have to disagree because I see SMG there.

I didn't even see this post!!! That's pretty much EXACTLY what I just posted. :rock
