Get mad over Sony's Ghostbusters....not this. :lol
I'm not even angry over that! In the best case scenario a rebooted Ghostbusters would have been a fun, but ultimately unsatisfying nostalgic romp on the order of the new Star Wars films. That's lightning in a bottle that we won't see again.

I saw this last night and went in without expectations. For not being able to tie it to Spiderman due to legal concerns, I think they did really well. I didn't mind that you wait a while before he's "full on Venom". It's an origin story, so that was fine with me. I liked it WAY more than the last time we saw the Venom character in theaters. I enjoyed myself more than say, a Capt. America movie, and I admit that may be because I've never liked Cap as much compared to Venom.

I think they were smart trying to make it for a younger audience as my "tween" kids loved it. They will likely be the ones keeping some money coming in after the opening weekend. I was surprised at the amount of people in the theater given it was a Wednesday. People have complained about Hardy's accent in the film, but it didn't distract me. I'm not sure it's as big of a deal for most movie goers as it is for some casual reviewers online.

Maybe I'm not asking enough with expectations but I think Venom fans would be happy with much of this film, especially how he looks and the interaction between Eddie and the symbiote. If you saw it and didn't like it, hey, that's fine. Don't see the next one I guess? My two boys and I did like it though.

Whether this movie is good or not, anyone going to see it and giving Sony your money means that you are supportive of their Spidey Universe with no Spider-Man.

So basically you are affirming Sony, Amy Pascal, & Avi Arad's ideas as well thought out, and letting Sony know it's a good idea to keep going. To make Black Cat, Silver Sable, Morbius and whoever else they planned. All without a Spider-Man. And/or give them a reason to end their deal with Disney/Marvel and let them take a 3rd go around with Spider-Man. As it'll show them they don't need Marvel/Feige to come up with great story ideas. And most likely with a 3rd actor to be cast as Spider-Man, as I doubt they would bring Tom Holland over to their new universe. A teenage Spider-Man wouldn't fit very good into these movies. A teenager running around with a killer anti-hero, a burglar, a mercenary and a vampire. These are all terrible ideas. And of course confusing to fans and damaging to the MCU as people think these are the same universe.

But, go see Venom. Embrace Sony's bad decisions for more bad comic book movie ideas so we can them complain about them. :yess:

Fans who are willing to see anything rather than wait for a good movie is why we continue to get rehashed stories, reboots, remakes. The attitude of "Anything is better than Nothing" is not very smart.

Enjoy the "Not" Venom movie and your Spidey-less universe. I'll be watching from the side lines and laughing. GO SONY!!

:slap

I didn't know that this was not supposed to take place in the SPidey verse..

That's just stupid.. :(

I liked Mcfarlane's art on Spider-man and hulk. Spider-man 300 hulk 340 are still awesome. His writing may not be the best but I enjoyed his 80's art.

Can’t deny the man’s contribution to Spiderman and that HBO Spawn cartoon can’t be touched by any DC or Marvel cartoon hell it’s even better than many live action superhero movies.....you know like the ones in the DCEU lol

Yup all of that.

Sure the quality decreased slightly towards the end of the episodes....but again just slightly.

The ********* serial killer ice cream tub of lard certainly elevated it into disturbing cartoon territory.
