I can see Sony's version now. No ties to Spidey at all. Since they already said somewhere that the symbiote is some lab science experiment. They found alien DNA and merged with it a Spider's DNA, you know, just because...
And there you have it... Who needs Spidey to be connected to Venom's origin?? The fans won't care, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.................

I guess the spider that bites peter cpuld get mixed with the symbiote and create a super magic creature.

I guess people were confused when Jackman popped the claws two minutes into that movie called Logan and killed the men trying to steal the rims off his limo. I guess people had no idea who this clawed person was since his origin wasn't explored as soon as that movie called Logan started. Because clearly it was impossible for people to surmise that this movie called Logan took place long after Logan (the title character) met the X-Men.

You're right. Since Tom Hardy has been playing Venom for the last 17 years audiences should have no trouble knowing who he is from the get go.

I don't care about Spidey's lack of involvement. But super spy Aunt May has to play a big role. If not, Sony can GTFO. The fact that they are still going after the Venom and girl Spider-Man characters movies proposed years back suggests to me that this is still on the agenda!

Lol I just think its hilarious that some people are so invested on this being an origin story when it has no reason to be. A story that opens with an Eddie that's been living with this thing for a decade, in a NYC where Spider-Man quit the job is ten times more interesting than a retelling of SM3, a movie that everyone and their mother remembers.
Like Logan, this can happen later and the particulars don't matter because what's unfolding before you is the true focus. Not how and when the X-Men died. Not how and when Eddie bonded with the symbiote and fought Spider-Man.

This is the stupidest thing I've read. Everybody knows who wolverine is by now. The franchise only just came in 2000 and had jackman star. So duh! Of course people know it's wolverine. Derp. And uh duh, they had claws on the posters

But you don't know the story. You don't know if it's going to be like that at all. Venom is a character that's built up. He has a set origin. Venom just walking around the city is boring, he works best when he has a vendetta against Spider-Man. He only fought carnage cause Spider-Man asked for help. He even teams up with carnage somtimes. We know about the xmen and there history not venom

And Silver Sable and Black Cat???? Wonder Woman has nothing on those fems... Worldwide heroes they are!!
