I like GLADIATOR, but I'm fine with it not being on a list of Top Films of The Decade. FIGHT CLUB should almost surely be on there, though. Maybe it doesn't qualify because it came out in 1999?

If the decade is over, 1999 was in it. If it isn't over ... they wouldn't be doing the ranking yet.

Well, such technicality has never prevented these lists from happening before. :lol

I'm just saying that it looks like "the decade" they're talking about here is 2000-2009.

Memento would have been in my Top 20; but then again I haven't seen Yi Yi. :monkey5

Hmm... I skipped your entry line and assumed this was YOUR personal list. What was the group of critics that was polled for this?

Looking back over the list of critics I left a few big ones off on accident. It should also have included the following...

Lisa Schwarzbaum - Entertainment Weekly
Owen Gleiberman - Entertainment Weekly
Peter Travers - Rolling Stone

There were a few others as well.

As for Gladiator and Fight Club. Gladiator was mentioned on one persons list. Fight Club was on nobodies list. Which is crazy considering over 100 movies were mentioned and not one of the 30 critics even had it in their list.

Critics always gotta put some stupid crap on their list or rate a movie no one will ever see '5 stars'. They always gotta try and make themselves seem legit. I never decide to watch or buy a movie based on "Critics Review".

Anyone here seen City of God? I've seen more than one list that gave it top honors for the decade.

One of the films that had a few mentions but just missed the top 20 that I'd have as either 2 or 3 on my personal list would be Amores Perros.

edit: City Of God is definitely worthy of the top 20 here.

Personally, I think Fight Club was good enough in 1999 to be considered among the best films from 2000 to 2009 ... but maybe that's just me.
