I saw most of those, and definitely agree about No Country being one of the top 2 or 3. Eternal Sunshine was surprisingly good, but. . .not #2 good. I personally think most of David Lynch's films (excluding Blue Velvet) are way over-rated. No way Mulholland belongs in the top 20 in my book. Didn't care much for Almost Famous or 25th Hour (probably listed because it's the best thing Spike Lee is likely to do, but that doesn't make it the best of the decade).

Personally, I think A History of Violence was the single best film of the decade. Just a masterpiece of film-making, and the best thing Cronenberg has done, IMO. Should at least be in the top 20. Because it isn't, the list sucks.

HAHHAHAHAHAHA!

where is AVATAR, IRON MAN, TRANSFORMERS 1 AND 2 ?

what a joke.

Word.

Your heading the right way for a smack bottom

On this list critics were asked to rank the top 10 films of the decade. The list took the films with the most top 10 mentions, added them up to get the following.

7. Brokeback Mountain
8. Almost Famous
12. Kill Bill 1/2
15. Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
17. The Dark Knight

How do they come up with these lists? LOL

Where is Gladiator? Black Hawk Down? Ratatouille? Miracle? Spiderman? Star Trek? Iron Man? Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? Unfaithful? Babel?

These are oprobably the same people who voted for The English Patient which is probably the most boring and pretentious film of all time.

:lol:lol:lol

The one movie I would definitely have on the list is Children of Men. It is without doubt one of my favorites of the last 10 years.

Hm, interesting. So, what were your choices?
1. A History of Violence
2. No Country for Old Men
3, etc. . .irrelevant. Gigli and Master of Disguise for all I care :D

In seriousness, though, I do agree that many of those on the list belonged. Departed was magnificent, There Will Be Blood was very good but not great, IMO, but the performance was Day-Lewis's best of his career, which is saying something. I think District 9 might actually belong on the list. That was a hell of a movie.

 I agree with ROTK, but what's with putting the whole trilogy on the list? Did they release a 9 hour film with all three?

It was based on how the critics listed it. So it was listed as the trilogy enough times by critics to get it mentioned that way. If you add the total number of mentions for the trilogy and for ROTK it was the overall top vote getter and would be number 1.

Lord of the Rings is actually one movie broken up. It's not really a trilogy per say.

Damn straight! :D

I would've thought Gangs of New York would be one.

It would be hard for me to make a list.

As it should be. :)

That makes sense. I think it's a bit ridiculous though. They should count anyone who mentioned the trilogy as votes for ROTK imo. The majority would probably say ROTK is the best film anyway.

Though R.O.T.K. may have gotten a lot of individual votes, I doubt it got many #1 votes (too lazy to check). Those were very good movies. But No Country For Old Men, they were not (in eyes of critics I would suspect).
