And there will no longer be any shows to download either. :cuckoo:

Then we will actually go outside and enjoy life. That reminds me of the Simpsons episode where the network sterilizes Itchy and Scratchy to the point where the kids lose interest. Result: They are playing outside. Building tree houses. Fishing. Playing in the parks.

:lol

Every musician and actor up until 100 years ago worked every time they got paid. Today's entertainers are no better and don't have a right to better.

Recordings allow entertainers to make more money than they would without recordings existing, and that is the bottom line. As long as recordings are sold, they can be copied. That is the other side of the coin.

The alternative is entertainers needing to sing for their suppers every night, just like people in every other profession, so all entertainers should be thankful that recordings exist in the first place so they can make any extra money at all.
No entertainer is entitled to a profit of every copy of a recording which people have.
People can loan their recordings to other people as well, and unless everyone wants to enjoy a recording at once, it basically nullifies the need for everyone to even have their own copy, whether they paid for that recording or not.

That said, I am glad that entertainers can make money for nothing, but they aren't entitled to it. No one is THAT special.

There is nothing that I want to watch, listen to, use etc bad enough that I would steal for it.

Stealing is bad. The internet age still hasn't found the right way to monetize content.

I use torrents but not for everything. I tend to watch films at the cinema, and buy the ones I like best.

TV shows I watch via torrents because they don't come on TV where I live.

Music I either buy the CDs or use legal services like Spotify.

I pretty much the same thing.

Stealing is good, and torrents are great, especially when you find this something as cool as this.

Also, like someone said, Torrents are not bad. The content might be, but them as a means of sending information, isn't. I bought one of those Humble bundles, and they came in a torrent. Completely legal.

I use torrents pretty regularly.

I use them for tv shows and movies that aren't available on Netflix.

If I like it (which is the case more often than not) I buy it on DVD anyways. If I didn't already know I liked something I wouldn't buy it, so the industry ends up benefitting more from me using torrents than if I hadn't.

For movies and shows, no. Those are all on Netflix, Hulu, youtube or streaming on some site to watch. I think I've only bought a handful of dvds in the last 3 years or so.

I buy most of my music from various MP3 sites. For obscure soundtracks and such that are long out of print and not available from those sites, yea I use other methods of obtaining them.

Yeah?

Sounds to me like your slack-jawed ******s are people who do not take what is not theirs. They don't believe that the people who create things which they enjoy are their personal slaves, owe them anything, or exist to entertain them.

You see this as weakness? Or vice? Aberrant behavior? Sheepish, perhaps?

I pay for my car and the gas as well as insurance. My car drives me to the mall. Does that "entitle" me to take whatever I want from there?

Stupid.....

You can take pictures and video of the mall and everything going on in it if you like. It's the same thing. With a camera, you take an image of what is there without taking the actual thing. Uh oh, everyone who takes pictures of the Statue of Liberty is stealing.
Fortunately the corporations haven't gotten to the point yet where they invent technology that interrupts the connection between your ears and eyes so that you will have to pay them in order to see or hear.
Only physical objects can be stolen.

There is a story about a poor man living in an apartment above a restaurant. He only can afford to ear plain rice, but he can smell the cooking from downstairs, which enhances the experience of his meals. The restaurant owner finds out about this and wants to charge him money for smelling the food. In court, the Judge asks the poor man to toss coins in the air and they make a jingling sound. The judge says, he has smelled your food, and you have HEARD his money.

If someone makes copies and represents them as originals to sell for profit, that is counterfeiting and stealing because they have received money that the original maker would have received.

Intellectual property law would disagree that only physical objects can be stolen.

You have a world class gift for moral evasion.

I just think people should not download crap and just watch it.

Sometimes even Youtube has tv shows or movies, completely. I have watched a lot of movies on Youtube.
I don't see the harm in just Watching something. (If you are not going to keep it or anything)

But it really pisses me off when people download crap for hours and hours just to watch it and then keep it and not buy it. or even worse, delete it.

just seems so stupid...

such a waste of bandwidth......

:lol whether you keep it or not... if you've watched copyrighted material, outside of regular broadcast channels and without paying for it, it's theft.

There is a big difference between video released to YouTube, ect.. and something you watch streamed on an illegal site or download illegally. One still provides revenue to the people who created the video where the other doesn't. The less revenue shows and movies and make due to piracy the less movies and shows will exist. And yes this will eventually effect every movie and show.
