My previous car was a 97 civic I bought brand new. I drove it hard and never broke down or gave me problems until I traded it in a few years back. My wife wants to get a mini van :monkey4 for the family for her next vehicle so if that happens I will probably step down and get another car and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a honda. Congrats on the new ride!

pretty nice, but whats the white mark over the rear passenger wheel is that a scratch or something on the photo?

;) just kiddn.

Hey BM,

How did the whole government money-dealy work? Do you get the money dedcuted off of the price of the vehicle or do you get it back later?

Yeah I don't think I will sway from Honda ever again. Unless I go Acura that is. ;) But I guess that's still a Honda. :lol

Be careful of the oil levels on Hondas. You have to watch that ^^^ like a hawk because of the small reservoir. I had a 1992 civic and a 2004 RSX and you can run low easily.

Yeah I have a little meter that tells me where I am at. However, I am not too worried. I had a 93 ex coupe that I beat the hell out of. The only time I would change the oil was at inspection. My friend would yell at me everytime I took it in too. Ran like a champ! :lol

I won't get any more political except to point out that this Cash for Clunkers program is nearly bankrupt already. So hope everyone that wanted to take advantage of this program already has.

Just another example of wasteful government spending and an inefficient system. And what is Congresses solution? dump more money into the program. What a joke the system is.

What I find extremely interested is that "they" don't even know how many vehicles were purchased in the few days the program was opened, so they have no idea if there is any money left over, and some doubt if all the rebates will be honored.

I wasn't even eligible for that program because my trade in was worth more. However, I am eligible to claim the taxes and get that refunded with my 09 return.

My buddy did qualify with an old '88 GMC truck that ran fine but AC no longer worked and I kept telling him to get in and act on it. he never did, and I think it is too late now.

Yup! I am trying desperately to get in on that first time home buyers stuff. :D

Thanks Reinhardt. I love it so far. It is no V8 Cobra or anything but it has just enough pep for it to be a fun little car to drive. :rock

My bother was just telling me that he got in on this program last night with a pick-up that his house guest cracked the block on.

The dealer called him at like 7:00 PM and told him the program was ending at midnight, he didn;t get to the dealer until 9:00 PM and finished up at 11:05 PM.

I guess my head has been in the sand. I only just heard of this program this morning when he called me.

I think it just started only two weeks ago. It generated the sales of about 200,000 cars. The only problem is they ran through the budget. :lol

You guys will love this! Apparently any car that qualifies for the Car's for Clunkers program has to be put down like a death row inmate. This is a video from an actual car dealer that is following the government procedures. WTF! Why not give it to a poor family or something. Instead they render the car useless. Please try not to make this anymore political though. I won't give my actual opinion on it. However, I just wanted share.

Exactly. This program definitely generated some sales, but I am very skeptical of the long term benefits to the economy. And it certainly wasn't a "green" program. To qualify, your car had to be newer than 1985 and your upgrade had to get as little as 4 mpg better than your trade in. 4 mpg??? That is insignificant in regards to the impact on the planet. And the old clunkers are turned in and made inoperable, either by seizing the engine or compacting into a metal brick.

Like you mentioned, why not sell that old car to a poor family that can't afford a new car?

Also, all these potential used car trade-ins are now off the market, decreasing the supply of available used cars, so poorer families aren't going to find many bargains with a more limited used car supply from trade-ins.

And this program was supposed to go to November (4 months) and it barely lasted 4 days before it went broke and the president asked for more funds.

Shouldn't we figure out what happened to the planned money so quickly before we appropriate more funds? Why the rush? After all, this was debated in Congress and made into a bill, so I'm sure all the congressmen and women read it and knew exactly the right amount of money to appoint to last the 4 months. You know there was some people taking advantage of and scamming the system. I would want to account for all receipts and make sure they total $1,000,000,000 before opening the pursebook again.

Who did this program really benefit anyway? So a few people get a car at a $4000 discount. Should they have bought a car to begin with when they may have had a perfectly running car to begin with? Now they just took on another $16k+ in debt that maybe they should be using that money for more critical needs in these tough economic times. More of the same. Gimme gimme entitlement mentality. So basically, our tax dollars paid for a few people to upgrade their ride. Way to go.

And to top it all off, the president tells people to get out there this past weekend and buy, buy, buy. The money isn't even there yet. Only the house approved the extended budget; the Senate has yet to vote on it. So all the extra cars that were sold this weekend may not even qualify if the extra $2 billion isn't approved. Then who's on the hook for the $4000 rebate? The buyer? The dealership? The trade-in will have been made inoperable, so that's now worthless. Perhaps an IOU.

I wish this new ******* government would slow the ^^^^ down and think things through before they spend even more of my tax money without thinking about the impact to our future economic standing in the world and our ever increasing debt to China.

And if our goverment can't even manage a $1 billion cash for clunkers program in 4 days before it went bankrupt, how the hell am I supposed to have any iota of confidence in their ability to handle healthcare, which is exponentially larger scale?

I will just say that I am in the business of one of the industries that you mentioned. People think that they want government interference. However, I know that it would not be good.

As for the clunkers. Man what a waste, just a waste. I FEEL the change. :lol

nice ride BM!!! i definitely like these better than the hatchback that they had before. i'm thinking about getting a TDI jetta in a couple months so i can use that 40+ mpg. however, i still love my gas guzzler and will probably just hold onto it for weekend cruising.
