Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

Beast Wars was a part of mine. :lol

I just never liked the look. But that's just me.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

I think it would be pretty nice if they could appease different types of Transformer fans with something. . .really different somehow. Doesn't have to be Oscar-caliber, but Bay's had 3 films worth of his vision of Transformers. His stories have been told, his ideas have been conveyed. Just something different would be nice for fans who aren't fans of what the first 3 movies are and represent. But. . $$$$$$

G1 IS Transformers

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

I would like to see a prequel set on Cybertron myself. Get rid of all the human BS time filler.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

This doesn't make sense, Bay made his Transformers, what do we have to gain from him revisiting this universe? Going back and remaking Transformers is like George Lucas going back and....oh wait...

They lost their need to be represented when they gave out death threats over flames. :lecture

I think G1 is terrible. and I think the fans are worse. When you listen to the ____ they pulled, they're almost worse then TDK fans.

That's a pretty gross over-generalization. And I didn't even say a different direction with the franchise had to be more G1-like, just not Michael Bay/dramatic crane shot/explosions/bad comedy/Shia LeBouf/Optimus as unrepentant killer of crippled and defeated enemies/etc.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

Well, nothing in the episodes i've seen were no worse then what Bay did. The comedy still sucks. The human characters are just as boring. So I don't know. Transformers is a silly cartoon, and a silly idea. Embrace it's silliness.

But Shia's gone. So, who knows. And Steven Spielberg is not going to let anyone else near the franchise.

The movies exist to sell toys. Like the show did.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

Only if Bay does it. I will refuse to see it if he doesn't make it. :lol

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

And look, despite my hatrid for G1 fans, I too, would rather have Bay do something else. But it's Steven's call. Bay knows what this series is. He's not an idiot. He knows he has to appeal to everyone. From 5 to 18. It's not easy. People don't like movies like that. Understandble. They're never good movies. They're made for money. Bay knows this, Steven knows this, the creator of Transformers knows this.

I can't blame anyone for not liking these things. They're ____. But I can blame you for wanting to come back to it. I doubt this next one will be any better. But who knows. It's going to entertain me, and millions of other people, and make them happy for 2 hours.

And then money will be made, and given to Scorsesse to make his new films. You need ____ty Hollywood money makers to keep it rolling.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

I wouldn't say they were underscore, I enjoyed 3 more than the first two. If anything I couldn't stand is someone like Optimus thats such a powerful leader and history that portrays to be so weak in battles. He feels like a great striker but poor defender. It always feels as if he gets ripped to bits so quickly for a supreme leader.

It was also very disappointing how long Jazz lasted.

Simmons was fantastic though. You can't deny that.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

Personally I'm not too thrilled that Bay is coming back for another one and that they didn't go in a completely different direction. I liked the 1st one but the 2nd and 3rd were crap in my opinion. I grew up with Transformers and I would love to see something more closely related to G1...at least in the bot's designs. I'd also like to see a story focused on the transformers and not humans....maybe have 1 or 2 essential people in the movie (Spike and Daniel) and let the story revolve around the robots. When Bay stopped designing them to actually look like robots I lost all interest. If they could design them closer to their cartoon counterparts that would be awesome....if the toy can be switched from a robot into some form of vehicle and still look like a vehicle why deviate from that? I want to see Optimus as a Peterbilt truck and Bumblebee as an old school beetle.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

For the most part i enjoy the Transformers movies, i like the over the top action and bottom line, im going to see Transformers fight in epic battles, not see Shia Lebouf in a relationship or some 2 hour dramatic human storyline so the movie serve *SOME* purpose IMO. I really like the first one, parts of the 2nd are very epic (forrest battle) and for the most part, i like the 3rd, but i felt it should of been tightened up.

With this new film, Bay needs to go in a different direction. Id like to see a prequel like movie with the bots on Cybertron, and how the war broke out, they need to hire a good writer and not make the movie tooo heavy. I like Bay, he does big movies, some times they flop, some times there awesome, but he always goes big, so well see what he can pull off.

Re: Transformers 4: The Search for More Money

Agreed. I'm more excited for Pain and Gain. His 25 Million dollar thriller.

News:
https://latino-review.com/2012/02/16/transformers-4-tone-all-new-cast/

After ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ lit up the box office this past summer, Paramount Pictures couldn’t put the series to rest with a sound mind. There’s going to be a fourth, and director Michael Bay is said to be returning to the helm.

A source on the film has told Badass Digest that audiences shouldn’t expect the hokey vibe that ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ predominately had. Instead:

“Michael realized it [the fourth film] needs to be more like the last hour [of Dark of the Moon].“

The intense action from the final act of ‘Dark of the Moon’ may be carrying over, but according to an interview that E! had with actor, Josh Duhamel, the cast likely is not. He said:

“I don’t think anybody’s doing it. I know Shia [LaBoeuf]‘s not doing it. I don’t think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it.“

That’s quite the statement. But maybe what the ‘Transformers’ series needs is a breath of fresh air? In the cartoons, the warring factions have gotten by just fine by introducing new human leads, or even doing away with them altogether. The latter doesn’t seem likely, but a charming substitute for LaBoeuf could surely work out.

It seems to be the hip thing to do these days to hate on ‘Transformers,’ particularly after the first sequel. But if the action took on a ‘Dark of the Moon’ vibe, and the cast becomes fresh, is this a film that goes on your radar?

‘Transformers 4′ To Be Cheaper, Likely To Go Into Space and Don’t Call It A Reboot
Posted on Thursday, June 21st, 2012 by Germain Lussier

While many of us soon begin our summer vacations, Michael Bay is going back to work. Next week, the director will transition from his small film Pain and Gain to full on pre-production mode for Transformers 4. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times about the project, he dropped several new pieces of information.

We already know the film will feature a whole new cast, but Bay explained a bit about how Transformers 4 is not a reboot. He also said it seems natural the film would take place partially in space but it won’t be a full on Cybertron-set story because he has to make the movie for about $30 million less than Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Space is pricey.

Read his quotes and more after the jump.

Bay spoke to the Los Angeles Times about the film while promoting the Transformers ride now at Universal Studios Hollywood. Despite the new cast, he said it’s not a reboot:

It’s not a reboot, that’s maybe the wrong word. I don’t want to say reboot because then people will think we’re doing a Spider-Man and starting from the beginning. We’re not. We’re taking the story that you’ve seen — the story we’ve told in three movies already — and we’re taking it in a new direction. But we’re leaving those three as the history. It all still counts. I met with the writer before I went off to do ‘Pain and Gain’ and we talked about a bunch of ideas. We let that simmer for a bit. He’s been thinking about stuff and now we’re getting back together next week to see what we’ve got and to see if it gels.

So does that mean Optimus Prime and the crew will be leaving Sam behind on Earth and venturing out into space?

I think so, yeah, a little. That feels like the way to go, doesn’t it? I want to go a little off but I don’t want to go too sci-fi. I still want to keep it grounded. That’s what works in these movies, that’s what makes it accessible.

Bay said the movie would have to be made for about $30 million less than Dark of the Moon (which Box Office Mojo has budgeted at $195 million so don’t expect it to be small) and that it would, once again, be his last:

Here’s the thing, it’s tough to find someone who’s done these kind of movies and to have the complication of creating the new stuff that needs to be in this movie – not just characters but a new type of action, I hope – and that’s a lot for someone new to bite off. And so after this one I will leave it in the best hands possible. That’s the plan.

Head over to the Los Angeles Times to read the rest of the article where he talks about his love for the ride, franchise and more.

Transformers 4 will be released in June 2014. Do you trust that Bay can make it the best yet? Do you care?
